What makes a movie tax-free in Karnataka?A Kannada movie is declared tax-free when the government grants an entertainment tax exemption or reimbursement (post-GST). This is a policy decision, not an automatic entitlement.
Factors taken into consideration:- Films that are culturally or socially relevant
- Are originally made in Kannada, not dubbed versions
- Hold a clean U or U/A certificate
- Are formally reviewed and approved by the Karnataka government
However, final approval depends on state policy priorities.
