In an interesting turn to the controversial State Awards 2010-11, the High Court served a four weeks’ notice to the Government of Karnataka to set up a new award selection committee for the year 2012-11. This followed the High Court asking the government to advocate whether it would withdraw the awards or wait for the court’s order as the awards were controversial.

The government then decided to withdraw the State Film Awards for 2010-11.
Justice Ram Mohan Reddy recently issued a four weeks notice to the government which states that the government needs to set up a new committee to select the new winners for the awards within the stipulated time.
The Information Secretary, Vishu Kumar has meanwhile submitted an affidavit and has said that committee member, Ishwara Daidota, has nothing to do with the Tulu film, Kanchilda Baale, and has not been given credit by the makers of the film.
