Following the footsteps of Global Indian Music Academy (GiMA) awards is the Kannada International Music Academy (KiMA) awards. The KiMA awards claims to be the most definitive platform to honour and applaud talent in Kannada music industry. In a first-of-its kind initiative by Taurian, KiMA is said to recognize talent across the globe over multiple genres of Kannada music, with the vision of giving different musical genres the same importance.

KiMA awards kicked-started in the presence of noted director of Kannada cinema Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar, who stated that emphasis on encouraging fresh talent and support the existing. The award will given to musicians under 18 categories — life time achievement, outstanding contribution, sound recording, sound record engineer, folk music, devotional music, pop music, light music, short film music, theatre music, television music, background score, arranger, lyricist, playback singer male and female, composer selected by listeners, best composer of film song and best film music album. KIMA awards 2013 will be also presented for the best tracks in the 2012 releases. Music directors LN Shastry, Anoop Seelin, Dharma Vish, BJ Bhrath and others were present at the launch of this award.
Last day for the entries has been decided as May 10.entries need to be mailed to the KiMA email id.
