For my role as a farmer, I rode bullock carts and tilled land: Shree Ram

Kannada actor Shri Mahadev, who was last seen in Just Pass, has changed his name to Shree Ram. “My name was Shri Mahadev, and people were calling me Shri as well as Mahadev, which is my father’s name. Then, I shortened it to Shri, but people felt it was incomplete, so I have changed it to Shree Ram now,” informs Shree.

The actor has, of late, been busy learning the nuances of being a farmer for his onscreen role in his next, Rukmini Vasantha. “The movie doesn’t touch upon agrarian issues. Instead, we are narrating the beauty of love rooted in our culture. Usually, movie workshops are conducted within four walls, but I camped at a village in Mandya for a month for this movie. I used to wake up in the early hours, milk cows, clear up the dung, till the land, and ride a bullock cart. I learnt how to wear a lungi and even managed to grow vegetables, the yield of which I took back home. It was a fantastic feeling,” he says.
The actor adds, “I have been in the industry for the last six years now. Earlier, I used to take up roles, which suited my real character. As I am more mature now, I want to portray roles which are unlike me and ultimately, test my acting prowess and put me out of my comfort zone.”
