Kavya Shetty has maintained that she wants to do more than the stereotypical heroine roles and has been experimenting with new scripts and characters. It’s no surprise that she’s taken on her first ever role as a cop. She’s just finished shooting for the first schedule of Ashoka Blade, which also stars
Sathish Ninasam and is being directed by Vinod DV. The film, inspired by real incidents, has been written by Dayanand TK, who has also written Bell Bottom.
“I love this character as this film is a tad different from the usual stories. There are two parallel timelines, one in the 1970s and one in the current period. My character, set in the current age, chances upon this story that happened in the 70s. This is unlike the other women police roles. She’s neither a comic relief nor over the top. It is a parallel storyline that finds out what happened in this non-linear script that is being narrated,” reveals Kavya.
The actress has just finished shooting for the first schedule in Bengaluru and Mysuru. “I am pretty much the only character in my track, with a sidekick. This makes it exciting. I will soon head to Uttarakhand and even Mumbai as the story travels across all these places. I learnt how to ride a big bike as I had to ride one for a scene. I will get to do my fight sequences in the upcoming schedules. What excites me is that I get to work with National Award-winning fight master,
Vikram Mor, and these will be shot in live locations in Uttarakhand. So, we plan to have rehearsals too,” adds Kavya.
