Dr Rajkumar’s Naanobba Kalla to be re-released

It is not new for old Sandalwood films to be re-released. Distributors do this to cash in on the popularity that veteran actors still enjoy, and one such film is Dr Rajkumar's 1979 hit, Naanobba Kalla. The movie will hit theatre screens on June 13 and Bangalore’s Kapali theatre will be the main theatre.Directed by Dorai-Bhagvan, Naanobba Kalla also stars Lakshmi, Kanchana, Thoogudeepa Srinivas, Shakthi Prasad and Tiger Prabhakar. What is unique about the movie was that Dr Rajkumar had sung all the four songs and S Janaki also gave vocals on two of the songs. The songs were a hit and so was the film. Given Dr Raj’s popularity, it is likely that the movie will do well the second time around as well. Recently, 30 years after its initial release, Dr Vishnuvardhan’s 1984 blockbuster Khaidi was re-released. The movie was iconic as it established Dr Vishnuvardhan as the angry young man of Sandalwood.
