Director Nagashekar turns hero
Sandalwood directors turning heroes on screen seem to be the flavour of the season. After the director of Googly, Pavan Wadeyar, played the lead role in Preethi Geethi Ityaadi, the next to follow suit is Mynaa’s director Nagashekar. While he has played supporting roles in around 150 films, Nagashekar will play the role of a hero for the first time in the upcoming film, Tharle Nan Makkalu.

So, what prompted the director to turn hero? “I’ve always wanted to act. In fact, I was keen on playing Chetan’s role in Mynaa, as well. Since I got busy with the scripting, I decided to cast Chetan. When newbie Rakesh approached me for this project, the script was too enticing to refuse. ”
Nagashekar will play an aspiring actor and Shubha Punja will play his love interest. But the interesting part, he says, is that he gets to imitate famous actors of Kannada cinema in the film. “I get to imitate Sudeep, Shankar Nag and Upendra, among a host of other actors,” he says. The film also marks Jaggesh’s son Yathiraj’s debut as well. Meanwhile, Nagashekar will start his next directorial Om Ome with Nithya Menen this October.
