Anant Nag sir has been like a mentor: Radhika Chetan
Radhika Chetan plays an independent, confident woman in the corporate world in this week’s release,
A CONFIDENT AND SENSITIVE CORPORATE WOMAN
I play a woman in the corporate world, who is independent and knows what she wants. She is good at balancing all aspects of her life, and is also very sensitive when it comes to her loved ones. The movie is also about live-in relationships and brings in the aspect of the generation gap — Anant sir’s character represents the older generation and mine the younger one. I am not much like my character in real life, so to pull this off, I had immense support from the director (K Narendra Babu) and Anant sir. If I have done justice to this role, it is completely because of them. Also, I have inspirational women in my friends’ circle who I look up to, so I kept them in mind while essaying this character.
A FILM PACKED WITH SUBTLETIES
I jumped at the offer the minute the director told me that Anant sir is in the movie. I heard the story after that and thought that the Kannada film industry needs a film like this. Movies tend to follow certain trends, but Hottegagi Genu Battegagi breaks that; it is content-oriented, in which the characters speak more than the actors. It is very deep and has a lot of meaning. Also, this movie is about subtleties — through the story, the director tells people a lot of things, and if you are observant and absorbing of what you see onscreen, you will pick up on a lot.
ANANT NAG, THE
Anant sir has been like a mentor for me throughout the journey of this film; he helped me understand my character better. I have been able to work out this character only because of his advice and guidance. He is a very humble man and can hold a conversation about anything, be it politics, music or theatre. He won’t only give you information, but will tell you the history as well. I feel extremely fortunate to have shared screen space with him.
Hottegagi Genu Battegagi
. The film, she says, is filled with subtle messages and has a lot in it for audiences, if one is attentive. The film is about relationships and two different generations, with Anant Nag’s character representing the older generation, and Radhika’s the younger generation. In a chat with us, she let us in on all this and more…I play a woman in the corporate world, who is independent and knows what she wants.
