Thambikkottai might be his debut venture as far as direction is concerned, but Ammu Ramesh has left no stone unturned in coming up with a commercial entertainer.
The best part of the project is its ensemble cast. Its not easy to make a film with so many actors, that too in ones debut vehicle.

But in Thambikkottai, new characters keep appearing after every 10 minutes. It was great fun working that way, says the director who had earlier worked with Jayam Raja in Santhosh Subramaniam and Unakkum Enakkum.
The film, he says is replete with a message and every character in the film serves a certain purpose. Narain especially, has a great role in the film and his character will be talked about like his parts in Anjathey and Chithiram Pesuthadi, he reveals.
Ammu Ramesh is also upbeat about the music by Imman. He almost took a year to come up with the music for Thambikkottai. Nevertheless, it was worth the wait. The songs are racy and will complement the storyline. We are planning to release the film later this month, says the director who has kept his fingers crossed for the film. Let Thambikkottai release. After that I will think about my next project, concludes Ammu.
