One of Sandalwood's most popular music directors now, Arjun Janya is candid when he says that he composed three of the songs of Mareyalaare a few years ago. But he is quick to add that they are as fresh as can be. 'Director Sharat Khadri approached me to compose for his film some time ago, and I had worked on three songs back then. Unfortunately, the film did not take off.
But when he was finally ready with it, Sharat came back to me and I worked on one more number, a duet,' says Arjun, who has sung one of the tracks Sa Re Ga Ma, which is the hero's introduction
song. Sharat, who has written the lyrics for Sa Re Ga Ma and Why Pay More?, a song about inflation, adds that he and his fellow lyricist
Yogesh tailored three of the numbers according to Arjun's music. 'In the case of Why Pay More?, though, it was the other way around, and we briefed him about the content of the song and how we wanted it to be. Avinash Chebbi, who apart from being a playback singer is also a great rapper, has done a good job on it,' says the director.
The soundtrack, which is set to be released today, features two other songs: the duet Sparsha and Bhoomi. As an added bonus, the makers are looking at releasing the videos of at least three songs online.
