Maanikya

Director Sudeep rightly judges the pulse of the audience with his latest movie Manikya, a remake of Telugu movie Mirchi. Sudeep has given what they want - action, romance, comedy and sentiment. Armed with a good script, the director has taken care to see that the narration does not lag at any point. The story moves fast and almost all the major characters have equal share of work to do. With a long list of senior artistes, Sudeep has succeeded in giving them the right roles.

The story begins on a foreign location where hero Vijay (Sudeep) meets Manasa (Ranya) and comes to know of her family that stays in a Bidar village. The twist to the story comes when Vijay joins a college. Then the scene is shifted to a village where Beera (Ravishankar) is waiting to take revenge on Adishesha (Ravichandran). Vijay joins that family to calm down things. We come to know that the feud between two families has been going on for nearly 27 years. The story takes a shocking turn when Beera comes to know that Vijay is the son of Adishesha, who is separated by his wife (Ramya Krishna). Vijay tries all tricks to bring his father and mother together and to unite the two warring families. Several turns keep you on the edge of your seat. Does Vijay succeed in his effort?

Sudeep is perfect in all moods with his excellent voice modulation. Ranya, the find of the team, shines with a lively performance. Her natural way of dialogue delivery is a highlight. Varalakshmi too puts up a matured performance. Ravishankar has the best share of acting as Beera with a commanding voice. Ravichandran is dignified in his role. Sadhu Kokila’s track with a good sense of humour is entertaining. Music by Arjun Janya has catchy tunes. Shekhar Chandra’s cinematography has captured the beauty of Bidar.
