Chitte

Manu and Sonu are a newly-married couple. They move into a swanky new house, where strange and spooky things haunt them. One is then introduced to a vengeful spirit who resides in that house and how she has a task cut out for the couple.

The film has two shades to it. On one side is a candy-floss love story and the other has a horrific thriller that involves a spirit. These two meet and that is where the crux of the film lies. The story is quite simple and has a decent execution too, but the narrative seems a tad long, despite the relatively shorter duration of the film, as compared to most Kannada films. While the film begins on a slow note, it picks up momentum towards the interval and has some interesting moments in the second half.

The film has all the necessary ingredients of a thriller. There is a young, good looking couple. There is a big house with an air of uneasiness to it. There is a comic element that adds to the mystery happenings, and there is a plot of revenge that involves the protagonists. To add to this, the makers have added an extra item number to ensure that they don't leave any stone unturned. But these elements seem too much and could have, instead, been snipped to keep it to a crispy and convincing story.

The performances are noteworthy. Harshika Poonacha and Yashas Surya as the young couple in love live their part. The surprise package of the film is Deepika, who plays the spirit with the mission; she leaves a mark. Giriraj induces laughs as the comic relief. One only wished the script was tighter and the dialogues were a little less predictable to have added that punch to this film that just about sails through till the end.
