Ambareesha

A labourer in a construction company fights a lone battle against the real estate mafia in Bengaluru. The movie throws light on land grabbing by the rich and influential and exposes the corrupt netas who are hand in glove with the mafia. Sprinkled with romance, action and sentiments, this movie is a treat for Darshan fans.

The film begins with the murder of Shyam Swamy who crusaded the fight against the corrupt system by preparing a revealing report on land encroachment. Ambareesha alias Ambi (Darshan) takes up the fight. He has the support of Team Bangalore which is also fighting for the cause. Here comes RDX (Kelli Dorji), a mafia don, operating from Malaysia. He has links with a local minister (Sharath Lohithashwa) who helps him get land here. The duo has formed a crime syndicate. Soon, Ambi launches ‘Operation Kempegowda’. He calls himself Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru. He spoils RDX’s attempt to acquire land for casino near Kempambudhi Lake. The attempt to grab 2,000 acres of land for a steel factory in Raichur is also foiled by him. RDX comes to India to take on Kempegowda. Action and bloodshed follows as the hero takes on the villains with a sword.

With a socially relevant subject and punchy dialogues, director Mahesh Sukhadhare manages to keep the viewers glued to their seat. But, the second half is a tad slow-paced.

It’s Challenging Star Darshan who has stood up to the challenge of his role as a worker from the lower strata of society leading the fight against the rotten system. His dialogue delivery and body language are worthy of special mention. Priyamani does a wonderful job as an arrogant construction company owner. Rachitha Ram showcases a lackluster performance. Comedy track by Bullet Prakash and Sadhu Kokila is below average. Ambareesh’s performance as Kempegowda is limited to just a dialogue. Sharath Lohithashwa and Kelli Dorji excel as mafia dons. Music by V Harikrishna is the highlight. Sathyanarayana’s cinematography is commendable.
