Indian singer Kanika Kapoor of ‘Baby Doll’ fame has reportedly become the first Indian artist to perform at the Buckingham Palace in London at the 10th-anniversary celebration of the British Asian Trust started by Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. She performed popular English and Sufi songs with British music producer Naughty Boy curating the music for the event.
Looking glamorous in a silver floor-length gown by British designer Jenny Peckham, Kanika was honoured to have an audience with the Prince and his wife.
She shared pictures of her meeting with the Royals with a comment that read, "Honoured to perform with @naughtyboymusic at the #BuckinghamPalace in #London celebrating the 10th anniversary of a fantastic #charity started by HRH The Prince of Wales. The @thebritishasiantrust is transforming lives across #India and other parts of #SouthAsia #10YearsofChange."

We all know Kanika Kapoor as the girl with the golden voice, but few of us are aware of the fact that she married Raj Chandok and moved to London when she was only 18. She was a housewife then. However, they parted about five years ago and finally divorced two years later. In an interview with Bombay Times, Kanika had said that she decided to move on, as Raj was with someone else. Now they have come to terms with the divorce and are back to being friends.

Kanika Kapoor has three kids and she is happy playing a mother to them. She feels that she is actually a normal, simple-hearted, small town girl, who has been exposed to a lot and has been through a lot very early in life. Now she lives with her kids (a son who is 11, and two daughters who are 10 and 7) in a small apartment. Her mother has also moved to London and both of them look after her kids.

<em>&lsquo;Jugni&rsquo;</em> was the first music video by Kanika, which was originally sung by Arif Lohar of Pakistan. It was remixed by Dr Zeus with her vocals. The video became a hit and received over three million views in no time. Ekta Kapoor heard her voice in the song and liked it and roped in Kanika for &lsquo;Baby doll&rsquo;.

Kanika Kapoor worked with Meet Brothers in super hit tracks like<em> &lsquo;Baby doll&rsquo;</em>, <em>&lsquo;Chittiyaan kalaiyaan&rsquo;</em> ,<em>&lsquo;Nachan farrate&rsquo;</em>. Few of us know that Meet Brothers are her rakhi brothers and she knows them from since childhood. They were her elder brother&rsquo;s schoolmates in Scindia Boarding School and they jammed together as kids.

Kanika Kapoor is a trained classical singer. She grew up learning classical music right from the age of six. At 11, she was singing pure classical on the All India Radio. At the age of 12, she started doing shows with Anup Jalota, who was like a second father to her as he is her father’s childhood friend from Lucknow. She came to Mumbai to launch herself as an artist and cut an album with Lalit Sen. She has done her Masters in music, so she can read, write and teach Indian classical music. She has even converted her garage in Lucknow into a studio, where she sings and records.

After getting positive response for her hit peppy numbers<em> &lsquo;Chhil gaye naina&rsquo;</em>, <em>&lsquo;Desi look&rsquo; &lsquo;Baby doll&rsquo;, &lsquo;Lovely&rsquo;</em> and <em>&lsquo;Chittiyaan kalaiyaan&rsquo;</em>, Kanika said to IANS, &quot;I will bring the classical music back very soon&hellip; This year people will listen more of it from me. I have my Youtube channel coming up which will demonstrate some classical tracks which I&#39;m creating.&quot;

Kanika Kapoor recently performed at the BBC Prom with BBC Asian Network at the famous Royal Albert Hall along with English DJ and songwriter - Naughty Boy. She paid homage to Yash Chopra where she sang all super hit songs of his films (including 'Kabhie Kabhie' and 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge'). She said, "I was truly humbled to be invited to perform at the legendary Royal Albert Hall along with Naughty Boy and Emeli Sande and have the opportunity to pay tribute to Yashji. The experience was surreal."

Kanika Kapoor attended a charity event hosted by UK royalty Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. It is said that when the light-eyed singer was introduced to Prince Charles as Bollywood's latest singing sensation, he couldn't resist attempting a few Hindi words himself. He was heard disclosing to her in their tete-a-tete that his favourite Hindi word is 'Mehbooba'.

Kanika Kapoor was seen cheering for the Indian cricket team at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Australia, with her Hindi version of the song<em> &lsquo;Heroes (We Could Be)&rsquo;</em>, released by Universal Music India. Speaking about the song, she said, &quot;I&#39;m thrilled to be a part of this exciting &#39;sporting&#39; project! It&#39;s unlike anything I&#39;ve done before and in India it can&#39;t get any bigger than the sport of &#39;cricket&#39; besides the fact that it&#39;s backed by a leading sports network - Ten Sports.
