Exclusive! Sachet-Parampara: Mix and match of originals and remakes are working wonders for the audience
After creating a rage with their first song from ‘Bekhayali’ from ‘Kabir Singh’, the duo went on to garner accolades for their yet another romantic number, ‘Mere Sohneya’.
Music composer and lyricist duo Sachet Tandon and Parampara are currently riding high on the recent success of their latest film, ‘Kabir Singh’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. After creating a rage with their first song from ‘Bekhayali’ from ‘Kabir Singh’, the duo went on to garner accolades for their yet another romantic number, ‘Mere Sohneya’. The duo also recently came up an acoustic version of the song on demand. Speaking exclusively about the same to ETimes, Parampara said, “‘Kabir Singh’ is still running in the theatres successfully and the album of the film has also become a huge hit amongst the audience, so we thought of creating an acoustic version of ‘Mere Sohneya’. We have been getting many requests of the same on out Instagram handles too.”Elaborating further, Sachet added, “We ran this idea with Bhushan Kumar and he was immediately on board with it. We are planning one more acoustic version of a song but now things are yet to be finalised.”While originals like ‘Bekhayali’ and others have been topping the music charts, they are also being given an equal fight by some latest remakes like, ‘O Saki Saki’. Talking about the trend of remakes catching up in Bollywood, Parampara said, “I think it all depends upon the audience and what they are expecting from the film. There are some people who are concentrating on creating originals while there are also others who are recreating old classics for today’s audience.
I think it is a mix and match of originals and remakes are working wonders for the audience. People are enjoying the original music and they are also dancing on the tunes of the remixes.”Apart from films, Sachet and Parampara also planning for a single and the announcement is expected to be out soon. From participating in a singing reality show to becoming the first male-female composer duo in Bollywood, Sachet and Parampara traced their journey so far. “We met in a singing reality show where we were competitors. After the show we met again after a few months and from then we started jamming together. Our journey in music started from there. It was then we bagged ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, Sachet said.Talking more about the same, Parampara added, “We are the first male and female composer duos in Bollywood. But gender really doesn’t have anything to do here. We are here to deliver good music.”‘Kabir Singh’ is Sachet and Parampara’s second film with Shahid Kapoor after ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’. The duo say they have developed a good bond with the actor. “When you do back-to-back films with a star, you develop a certain bond with the actor. After ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’, coincidentally, we bagged ‘Kabir Singh’. Shahid Kapoor really likes music. We met Sandeep Reddy Vanga and he briefed us about the script and the character of the film. It was a great experience for us to work with him twice. We really love that guy.”In their short career span till date in Bollywood, Sachet and Parampara delivered many memorable and hit songs. When asked, what their personal favourite song is, from their own composition, while Sachet said it has to be ‘Bekhayali’, Parampara opted for ‘Har Har Gange’ from ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’.
