Armaan Malik: Pritam da brings out my fun, slightly quirky side
Armaan Malik has built a strong recall with romantic ballads over the years, but he has steadily moved across genres. While many associate him with love songs, his recent work reflects a willingness to experiment with tone and texture.
He recently collaborated with Vishal Bhardwaj on romantic tracks and also lent his voice to upbeat numbers in De De Pyaar De. Now, with Ram Ji Aake Bhala Karenge from Bhoot Bangla, he presents another shift. Composed by Pritam Chakraborty, the song has a playful, quirky energy. Armaan adapts his vocal style to match its rhythm and character, bringing in a lighter, more conversational tone.
Speaking about the collaboration, he says, “Working with Pritam da is always enjoyable because he brings out my fun, slightly quirky side as a vocalist. He encourages me to lean into that Hinglish tonality and rhythm, and we’ve enjoyed exploring that space together. After De Taali from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, we had spoken about collaborating again, so I’m glad we could reunite for Ram Ji Aake Bhala Karenge.”
In a chat with us last week, while talking about life after marriage to Aashna Shroff, he had shared, “It has brought a lot of peace, stability and calm. I feel more human than ever before and supremely grounded; and I think that has definitely reflected in my work. I’m grateful to have a partner like Aashna in my life!”
He added, “It was challenging both personally and professionally. But it taught me a lot about patience, balance and listening to myself.”
On the global stage, one of Armaan’s most memorable experiences has been collaborating and performing with Ed Sheeran. He told us, “Ed is an inspiring human being and artist. I learnt a lot from his approach to songwriting and live performances. I’m glad I can call him a friend, a brother for life.”
