A song for Chintu ji

When we met singer and music director Anand Raj Anand in Delhi recently, he told us that singing in “Agneepath”, and that too for actor Rishi Kapoor, was a huge deal for him. “When I was a teenager, Rishi Kapoor was the No. 1 actor, and everybody loved him,” he said, adding, “So, when Karan Malhotra called me and said that he wanted me to sing a qawwali that would be picturised on Rishi ji, I immediately said yes. I didn’t think at all, I didn’t worry whether it’ll be easy or difficult, I just had to do it.” On singing under another music director, Anand said, “It is difficult to sing under some other music director when you’re a music director yourself. But when I saw the song, I knew that justice has been done.”
