There’s an inherent lightness of being with the sounds of Rajasthan lurking in and peeking from the kerbs of each track of
Shuddh Desi Romance.
Tere Mere Beech Mein, a romping ‘conversation’ between
Sunidhi Chauhan and
Mohit Chauhan that’s arguably the best track off the album has a lovely old Hollywood musical charm to it. A situational track, its playfulness sets the tone for the rest of the album.
Jigar and
Priya Saraiya come on next for
Gulabi, a romantic track that effortlessly combines electronica with desi strings and beats. Essentially about being in love with the idea of being in love, it sure will have you looking at life through rose-tinted glasses.
Chanchal Man Ati Random is right up singer Divya Kumar’s alley, a track that’s not quite unlike the vibe of his earlier hit,
Maston Ka Jhund from
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. It’s a veritable foot-tapper.
The title song is the next track. Sung by Shalmali Kholgade (in two distinct tones) and
Benny Dayal, it sounds like they’re having so much fun, they want us to be a part of what essentially is a very, very happy moment.
Mujhe Kiss Kar Sakte Ho, Love In Jaipur (Priya Panchal on accompanying vocals),
Tez Waala Attraction,Boyfriend Banogey and
Bhanwara Ma Bhatke (Divya Kumar sings a line or two) are all instrumental pieces that form the rest of the SDR soundscape. Fun stuff, this!
