Rohit Shetty donates Rs 51 lakh from ‘Simmba’ profit to the Mumbai Police welfare fund

Who’s who of B-town made their presence felt at the Mumbai Police’s annual cultural festival Umang 2019 and it was indeed a starry affair. What made the night even more special was filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s generous act.

According to reports, Rohit Shetty donated Rs 51 lakh to the Mumbai Police Foundation from the profits of his latest box-office blockbuster ‘Simmba’. Rohit, along with Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn handed over the cheque on behalf of his production house Rohit Shetty Picturez to the Commissioner of Police at the event.

‘Simmba’ co-producer Karan Johar stopped the early release of the film for Shah Rukh Khan?

Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan’s much-awaited ‘Simmba’ finally released yesterday and received an overwhelming response at the box-office. As per the report, the film has made around Rs 20 crore-Rs 21 crore on its opening day in the cinemas.

Recently released Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Zero’ under-performed at the box-office, but the makers of ‘Simmba’ were keen on coming out with the film earlier in December. According to reports, the co-producer Karan Johar stepped in at the last minute and stopped the early release of the film.

The report states that Karan was against the plan of makers to prepone ‘Simmba’, he requested them not to go ahead with it.

‘Zero’ was directed by Aanand L. Rai featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in lead roles.
