Sidharth Malhotra has now become one of the most popular faces in Bollywood. Everyone is aware of his grand debut in Karan Johar’s 'Student of the Year' and his subsequent rise to fame. However, his life has not been a bed of roses, as the actor himself says so.

According to reports, Sid recently opened up about his long-struggling phase in Mumbai. The actor said that at one point in time he actually thought of quitting but he kept on going with the only the promise of a better future. He also added that having nothing waiting for him back home kept him on-track. The ‘Ittefaq’ actor also revealed that his parents were worried he would end up unemployed as he didn't have any backup.

Well, it looks like Sid really had it rough at one point, but with over nine films under his belt; one can safely say that he has put his struggling days behind him.

Sidharth Malhotra began his career as a model and started modeling for fun and easy pocket money at just the age of eighteen. The Student Of The Year star has posed for several photoshoots and fashion shows, but decided to quit after four years because he was unsatisfied with this profession. He was not only interested in acting, but also worked as an assistant director on Karan Johar’s film My Name Is Khan in 2010. Interestingly, the Hasee Toh Phasee star also appeared in popular TV serial Prithviraj Chauhan with Rajat Tokas, but went unnoticed.

Ek Tha Villain actor, Sidharth, was a successful model before joining Bollywood. He has walked the ramp in countries like Paris, Milan and New York for prominent designers including Roberto Cavalli. Sidharth was supposed to make his Bollywood debut with Fashion, opposite Priyanka Chopra, but due to his contract with Gladrags, he missed out on the project. Malhotra was ranked 12th in The Times of India 's ‘50 Most Desirable Men’ listing of 2012, and was also voted as the most good looking debutant by UK poll in the same year. Apparently, he had gained 7-8 kilos in just two months to play the role of a boxer in the film and then had to lose it rapidly for his then next flick. This made his mother concerned about his health. Also, when the actor was shooting for Kapoor and Sons with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, both the actors often had conversations about the diversity of places and cultures of India and Pakistan. Fawad has visited many locations while shooting in India, but Sidharth has never been to Pakistan. He has heard many things about the place through Fawad and is hoping to plan a trip to Pakistan soon, a report stated.
