Shuddhi: 5 reasons why Karan Johar may have chosen Salman Khan over Shah Rukh Khan

The cat is finally out of the bag and according to a news report in DNA, Salman Khan finally revealed that he has after all signed Karan Johar's much delayed project 'Shuddhi' on the dotted line. Karan Johar's directorial venture 'Shuddhi' found itself hanging lose in the middle of a controversy when Hrithik Roshan decided to opt out of the project for personal reasons. However, Salman Khan put all the speculations to rest with his declaration that leads us to another question. Why Karan Johar chose Salman Khan over his 'best buddy' Shah Rukh Khan? Here are some probabale answers we came up with.

Shuddhi: 5 reasons why Karan Johar may have chosen Salman Khan over Shah Rukh Khan

The alleged big Shah Rukh Khan- Karan Johar fallout- Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar's friendship status has often made it to the front pages of tabloids for quite sometime now. It all started with news of an alleged relationship between SRK and actress Priyanka Chopra. While Karan and SRK's wife Gauri are best friends, news about a rumoured fallout between the director and his star muse made headlines. The world saw Salman Khan and Karan Johar's camaraderie when the former had come to promote his film on 'Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa' where KJo was one of the judges. But what added more fuel to fire was when KJo decided to start his last season of 'Koffee With Karan' with Salman Khan and seemed to give 'best friend' Shah Rukh Khan a royal ignore.

Salman Khan's popularity- One thing that has remain unchanged but in fact has grown by leaps and bounds over the years is actor Salman Khan's popularity. Salman's 'I give a dam' attitude and his nonchalant behaviour makes him the apple in the eyes of the aam janta's. Despite a stack of court cases and his bad boy image, Salman's boyish charm remains unmatched even today. It then comes as no surprise that proficient film maker Karan Johar would not want to cash in on the Salman Khan craze. Salman Khan signing 'Shuddhi' is a sure shot guarantee that cinema screens will see huge ques outside ticket counters.

Shah Rukh Khan moving away from his core group- Shah Rukh Khan who made an immensely successful 'Chennai Express' with director Rohit Shetty minted a lot of money from the same but his association with Shetty gave rise to a lot of speculations about him forming his new group. Karan Johar choosing Salman over SRK can be also because of SRK trying to move on to a new set of friends. So while SRK has his new gang in place, maybe KJo decided to move to newer pastures and chose SRK's arch enemy Salman Khan for the same.

No Koffee date with SRK- When Hrithik Roshan walked out of 'Shuddhi' a lot of names were yo-yoing as to who can fill in Hrithik's shoes. SRK was one of the obvious choices because of his association with director Karan Johar. However the director later went ahead with Salman over Shah Rukh and we should have seen it coming from KJo's controversial 'Koffee With Karan' episodes that aired sometime back. KJo who usually begins his new season with Shah Rukh Khan as a guest, started this time's season with SRK's frenemy Salman Khan instead. If we now look back, the writings were there on the wall all this while. Is that the reason why SRK decided to stay away from 'Koffee With Karan' entirely?

Shuddhi: 5 reasons why Karan Johar may have chosen Salman Khan over Shah Rukh Khan

Salman-KJo more exciting than SRK-KJo- After having seen Shah Rukh Khan in most of Karan Johar movies starting from 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' to 'My Name Is Khan', the audiences has seen and appreciated this hit director-actor jodi. While SRK has given a lot of hits with Karan Johar, Salman Khan's entry in the Dharma camp also offers an exciting proposition. Fans would love to see what freshness Salman and Karan bring together and the level of excitement before the release of the film will definitely be much higher.
