Nawab Shah and Pooja Batra's epic love story: These 10 pictures are proof

Unlike other B-town celebs, Pooja Batra and Nawab Shah kept their wedding a secret until rumours started making rounds in the media about their marriage. Pooja exclusively to Bombay Times shared about the wedding and revealed that it was a low-key affair with only close friends and family in attendance. The 'Virasat' actress confirmed that she tied the knot with Nawab Shah on July 4 in an Arya Samaj ceremony. For those who came in late, Pooja, who was last seen in the psychological thriller 'Mirror Game', was a model turned actress in the ’90s and was part of films like 'Virasat', 'Bhai' and 'Haseena Maan Jaayegi', among others. While, Nawab, who was seen in TV shows like 'Shaktimaan' and 'Saarrthi', also has movies like 'Don 2', 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', 'Dilwale' and 'Tiger Zinda Hai' to his credit.

Now, that the two have taken their relationship to the next level, let's have a look at some of their candid pictures which are nothing but adorable. The couple always kept their relation a secret until Nawab started sharing a number of adorable pictures of theirs on social media. Interestingly, soon after sharing pictures and before netizens would start talking about it, the couple made their relationship official.

Pooja exclusively to Bombay Times confirmed about their wedding, “Yes, we are married. Nawab and I exchanged vows in Delhi, with only our families in attendance. Our loved ones kept asking us why we were delaying it (the marriage). I was simply going with the flow, but then I realised that he is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, and there is no point in delaying it any further. So, here we are. We had an Arya Samaj wedding, and we will register our marriage this week.”

Speaking to Bombay Times, Pooja agreed that Nawab is the perfect one for her and is more romantic than her. She said.“During the initial days of our relationship, there was this one time when he came to pick me up at the airport, and according to him, he wanted to pop the question right then. However, he got nervous and dropped the idea (laughs!). He was ready to propose to me soon after we met. Eventually, he proposed to me in Delhi, and again when he came to meet my parents with his family.”

When asked the actress about her decision of getting married to Nawab, she revealed,“I have always respected and liked Nawab, and this time around, I was open to the idea of getting to know him better. A part of me wanted to see if there could be something beyond friendship between us. We share emotional and intellectual compatibility, and we don’t have to explain too much to each other. I like the fact that he is a family person.”

For the uninitiated, Pooja was earlier married to Los Angeles-based orthopaedic surgeon, Sonu Ahluwalia for nine years and got divorced in 2011. Talking about that phase of her life to Bombay Times, she shared, “Everybody goes through phases. I survived one of the most difficult ones, as I was alone in a foreign country. But then, that’s life, isn’t it? You learn as you grow and your mindset also changes with time. Life is all about learning and getting better. Every relationship is different, what works for one couple might not work for another. But what I have realised with time is to be respectful towards your partner, because what you give is what you receive.”

Nawab who is a well known personality, also revealed about their hush-hush wedding. He revealed that they had not planned anything but just wanted to start a life together and grow together. Speaking to Bombay Times, he said, "There was no point in wasting any time and that's why it happened suddenly. In fact, I tell her that we have less time together as we took some time to get married. I am glad that everything fell in place."

Nawab too is madly in love with Pooja and the actor expressing his happiness revealed, "Pooja entered my life like sunshine and I was sure that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I wanted to marry her right after our first meeting."

Elaborating on their marriage plans, Nawab expressed, "One has to be ready to experience something like this, and I guess, Pooja and I were in that space. It was as if we were destined to be together. We didn’t want to think about it too much and delay it (marriage) any further. Both of us have gone through various phases in life and have matured over the years. When I reconnected with her, a relationship wasn’t on my mind. However, at this stage in life, you feel the void of not having a companion. Pooja entered my life like sunshine and I was sure that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. In fact, I wanted to marry her right after our first meeting.”
