Matured sexual relations of teachers and students in Bollywood

Teachers have always been one of the most important influences in everyone’s life. Some look up to them, respect them and revere them and for some the respect and reverence turns into a strong fondness and the strong fondness gradually transforms into a crush. Some get over their crushes once out of school and cherish fond memories of it throughout their life, while for the rest of us the crush metamorphoses into the feeling of love and then ensues a lifelong tugging at the heart strings with the blues of unrequited feelings that remain hidden in some corner of our hearts forever. These tempestuous billows are put to rest only with our last breath.

Simi Garewal – Mera Naam Joker

This Raj Kapoor magnum opus was amongst the first films to delve deep into the searing love that a student Raju (Rishi Kapoor) shared with his teacher (Simi Garewal). The innocent blue-eyed 15-year old boy falls for his beautiful teacher, who has been guarding him, helping him and teaching him to live life in a beautiful manner. The 15 year old is torn apart between the sexual feelings he has for his teacher and his knowledge of what is good and bad. Simi Garewal portrayed the role of Mary, the young and beautiful object of passion in an all-boys school. No one can forget the scene where while instructing the boys to come out of the pool she falls into it accidentally and when she comes out of it completely drenched, water droplets adorn her cheeks and glistening thighs that are left uncovered and when she realises that, all of a sudden her demeanour changes from being a commanding teacher to a demure girl intimidated by the all-male gaze. That’s when she moves tactfully to the nearby bushes. The young boy Raju's raging hormones lead him to follow her into the bushes. This is where he sees his teacher (perhaps any woman), in all her glory for the first time– Naked as the day she was born. It is one of the iconic scenes to have been filmed in Indian film history and no other filmmaker could have pulled it off the way the one and only showman Mr Raj Kapoor did.

Rekha in Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love

Rekha is the goddess of sultriness and sexiness. No one could have been a better choice to portray the teacher of Kama Sutra, Rasa devi in the film. ‘Rasa’ is the Sanskrit word for juice or essence. It denotes an essential mental state and is also the dominant emotional theme of a work of art or the primary feeling that is evoked in the person that views, reads or hears such a work. Rekha portrays ‘Rasa’ in the film. The film follows Tara an Indian princess, who is arrogant and imperious while her playmate Maya is a servant girl, vivacious and free. Tara and Maya both learn the aesthetics (Rasa) of dance by Rasa Devi, now retired but who once used to be the late king’s favourite courtesan. Rasa’s magnificent screen presence radiates throughout the film. She teaches the lessons of love (Kama Sutra) to her female students. Her half opened dry scarlet lips as if waiting to be moistened, the wine filled eyes, the soft flutter of the eyelids, the uber sensuous body-language and the husky voice exudes sexuality.

Dimple Kapadia in Leela

Leela is an extremely mature take on various everyday aspects of life. The film is about the constantly growing relationship between a student and a teacher that culminates into a sad end. The film is a drop of tear that slides down the cheek, just like the melting of an unappeased longing. It is like the dewdrops of the eyes that tell of a night spent awake. Just like the fire of love cannot be extinguished and a torrent cannot be dammed, the poignancy of the characters in Leela hit you at a weak spot somewhere in your heart. The film is a pastiche of the searing young love that is coupled with a fervid sexual desire of the nineteen year old boy for his teacher who is double his age and a teacher (Leela) who is caught up between what she is supposed to be (the epitome of knowledge, an inspiration, a muse) and what she wants to be. Leela doesn’t need anyone to validate her. Her husband (Vinod Khanna) plays a very maturely restrained character to whom the fallacies(for the rest of the world) of his wife are quite transparent yet he chooses to ignore them and deal with them in a mature way. Even though Leela and his student have had an intimate sexual nexus, eventually the illusion ebbs and the reality takes its place. That’s when Leela comes back to her husband because now she knows nothing else is left to be appropriate for her.

The next one sure won't be surprising for you. Click if you can hear saxophones in the background...

Sushmita Sen in Main Hoon Naa

When it comes to Bengali beauties, half theworld falls at their feet and the Baadshahof Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan is no exception. In this roller-coaster ride ofa film, Shah Rukh Khan plays a college student who is smitten by his sexy chemistryteacher Sushmita Sen. The former Miss Universe looks gorgeous in every frame, asshe struts along the lanes of the college in her fluttering sarees. Sushmitamade a style statement and made the sub-continent believe yet again that onecan look uber-stylish in a saree. Sushmita’s character went on to be a rage andit still is. It is no surprise that the undercover army officer (Shah Rukh Khan)falls head over heels in love with her. Whenever he sees her in the film, guitars and saxophones start playing in the background and, along with the ChakDe star, the audiences too want to groove with the ensuing harmony.

Aishwarya Rai in Shabd

Aishwarya Rai plays Antara, a married professor in the film. She becomes the character of her writer husband Shaukat played by Sanjay Dutt, who kind of wields his pen in order to write her fate. The film paints a very intelligent picture onscreen with a lot of psychological aspects to it. Things go awry when Yash Agnihotri (Zayed Khan) falls for the charms of the gorgeously beautiful Antara, who keeps her marital status unrevealed to her admirer and neither does she mention anything about Yash to her husband. Her husband Shaukat enjoys this facet and pens it down, but everything seems to happen according to Shaukat’s imagination and Antara begins a sexual journey with Yash, while still in love with Shaukat. The film ends on a disturbing note with Antara admitting her writer husband, who has now become a chronic schizophrenic, into a mental asylum.
