According to a report on Dnaindia.com, Alia has claimed that her role in Udta Punjab is the most challenging so far. Reportedly, she plays a Bihari migrant who gets involved in drug trafficking and drug abuse. The report stated that Alia's ‘popped-in eyes’ look and a junkie avatar from the film will scare people. Quoting the actress, the report stated that she wants to surprise and not scare people with her look. The film Udta Punjab is a very complex film and people will understand her look once the promos are out.

According to a Mid-day report, Alia drinks 5 litres of water a day to stay hydrated. She consumes a lot of nimbu paani (lime juice) to keep her body cool, and also consumes sabza seeds (sweet basil seeds) with milk, added the report. The Highway actress will be sharing a screen space with her mother Soni Razdan for the first time in an ad campaign and will also be seen in forthcoming film Shaandar.
