Karan Johar's equation with Kajol and her family

The fallout between Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan made headlines for months. It was thought that the duo would never be seen together. Filmmaker Karan Johar had openly supported Shah Rukh during the fall out and the reports also said that this was the reason for the tiff between Karan Johar and Kajol too. But, the duo were seen dining together in Bulgaria, reports Bombay Times. As per the report, the duo were perhaps busy discussing a film project.

While Ajay Devgn's equation with Shah Rukh seems to be getting bak on track, let's take a look at Ajay Devgn and Kajol's equation with Karan Johar...

Karan Johar and Kajol have churned out some of the biggest blockbusters of all times. But reportedly they don't even see eye-to-eye now. While news about them having differences had been doing the rounds, here comes some hope about the two estranged friends. According to a mid-day report, Karan Johar and Kajol were seen sitting together at an event in Mumbai. The report further quoted a source, "They were talking cordially to each other, almost six months after their fallout. The obvious discomfort between them at various events earlier wasn’t there at this programme. Before it began, Kajol was smiling, probably at some of Karan’s jokes." "I had only Kajol in mind for Mandira's role. And I don't think I would have made this film had she said no to me. She was the perfect choice for the character. I don't think anyone could have done justice to it as she has," Karan Johar had once said in an interview with the Times of India. Kajol and Karan Johar's friendship was never put under the scanner until recently. While Karan Johar was a regular at all the events organised by Kajol, she too was a regular (even in cameos) in almost all his movies.

But the equation between these two friends changed in 2014. As per a Mumbai Mirror report (dated 28th Aug, 2014), Karan Johar and Kajol were invited for an event. While on other occasions Karan and Kajol would stick to each other throughout the evening, this time the scenario was just the opposite when they completely looked through each other. In fact as per the report, they even entered through different gates and continued to enjoy the evening with other friends.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror (dated July 14, 2014), Karan Johar spoke about his relationship with Shah Rukh Khan. "Shah Rukh will always be a part of my banner, while his banner is my home turf. His children are like my own and Gauri is my best friend. With Kareena and Shah Rukh, my relationship goes beyond the work we do. Shah Rukh sees my father in me and he is a part of my life, he said. He clarified that SRK's 'Happy New Year' shoot was the reason he could not come to 'Koffee With Karan'. On being asked about equation with Kajol he chose to keep shut. "I don't want to comment on Kajol," was his reply.

While Kajol and Karan Johar had been tight-lipped about this changing equation, it was pretty evident through their gestures. Ajay Devgn had a different story to tell. In an interview with TOI dated (July 30, 2014), Ajay spilled the beans on his equation with KJo. He said, "With Karan my equation has been the same, we were never too friendly." But again refused to comment on the relationship between KJo and Kajol. On being asked what's wrong between his wife and KJo Ajay just shrugged and said, "I don't know, that's between them."

What is even more interesting is Karan Johar's equation with Kajol's cousin sister Rani Mukerji. KJo has always expressed his fondness for Rani, but once he even said, "She is just like family to me". In fact, on one episode of Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa where Rani Mukerji had come to promote her film Mardaani, Karan had clearly said that Aditya is like his elder brother and Rani is like his 'bhabhi'.

Karan Johar was also among the very few guests from the industry who were invited to Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji's wedding in Italy. He was also among the first few industry members who went to see 'Mardaani' and applauded Rani's performance. He tweeted, "Rani Mukerji is simply Outstanding in #Mardaani!!!! Blows your mind!!! Take a bow @yrf for a relevant and compelling film!!!!"
