Films that were shot in the real homes of Bollywood celebs

Bollywood celebrities have an avid fan following. So much so that most of them are considered as God by their followers and the place they live is no less than a place of worship for them. Houses of actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are places of tourist attractions in Mumbai. However, seldom do the fans get a glimpse of the interiors of their humble abodes. The idea of shooting at the real homes of Bollywood celebs caters to one such fascination and it has always been a two-way profit for both the filmmakers and the audience. Check out the films you would love to watch all over again to get a better view of the star homes where these films were shot…

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ was one of the highest earning films and was loved across all age groups. It is to be noted, a few scenes were shot at the superstar’s Arpita Farms in Panvel including some last-minute inclusions. The film also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and child actor Harshaali Malhotra that traced Bajrangi’s search for Munni’s family across India and Pakistan was also filmed at Sonmarg, Zoji La, Thajiwas glacier and other unseen places.

Ki & Ka

Arjun Kapoor gets a rare opportunity to meet the Bachchans in the film ‘Ki & Ka’ as Jaya Bachchan invites him for lunch. Not to mention, the cine lovers surely paid keen attention to the interiors of the Bachchan residence shown for real in the movie. With their real pictures displayed in the background, all we wanted was to catch some more glimpse of the celebrity home. The famous gate of Jalsa and the inside verandah where Big B greets his fans were also shown as part of the ‘Murabba’ story in the film ‘Bombay Talkies’.

Bombay Talkies

The Rani Mukerji and Randeep Hooda starrer story ‘Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh’ in ‘Bombay Talkies’ was the story of a distressed couple. Director Karan Johar didn’t look much for the shooting location and filmed his own home as Rani-Randeep’s home in the film. So look closer while watching the film again to get a better view of the filmmaker’s home. Now isn’t the idea a win-win for the director as well as the movie lovers?

Fan

Shah Rukh Khan played a double role of superstar Aryan and his fan Gaurav in the film ‘Fan’ which had a close resemblance to his own star image. Some scenes of the film especially the one with Gaurav waiting outside superstar Aryan’s house was actually shot at Mannat in real time with the real crowd waiting for the real Khan at the location. Mannat is a regular hanging destination for his fans who wait outside the residence to catch a glimpse of the Baadshah of Bollywood.

Sanjay Dutt biopic

Ranbir Kapoor made headlines when he was clicked in a striking look with extreme resemblance with Sanjay Dutt while shooting for the Dutt biopic at the latter’s residence - Imperial Heights. This hints at a scene or two being shot at his real house which leaves us much more curious about the upcoming movie being directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The Sanjay Dutt biopic tentatively titled ‘Sanju’ also stars Dia Mirza, Manisha Koirala and Sonam Kapoor in prominent roles.

Veer Zaara

Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta’s emotional blockbuster ‘Veer Zaara’ touched the hearts of many with its painful love story and captivating screenplay. Interestingly, Preity aka Zaara’s family house in the film was actually Saif Ali Khan’s Pataudi Palace in Haryana. The song ‘Hum to bhai jaise hain’ picturised on Preity Zinta gives you the unique opportunity to have a closer look at the Nawabi property. Not only this, a few scenes in ‘Rang De Basanti’ and Julia Roberts’ ‘Eat Pray Love’ have also been shot at the place which is the residence of the Pataudi family.
