‘Kabir Singh’ director Sandeep Vanga speaks about the portrayal of women in the film
Filmmaker Sandeep Vanga is all set to release the Hindi remake of his Telugu super hit film, ‘Arjun Reddy’, which has been renamed in Hindi as ‘Kabir Singh’ and stars Shahid Kapoor in the lead along with Kiara Advani. Although the trailer of the film was much appreciated by the audience, a lot of questions regarding the narrative and glorification of toxic masculinity were raised.
Speaking about the same, Sandeep reportedly said that it is not arrogance, but he genuinely does not bother about pseudo-feminists and pseudo-sympathisers. He stated that there is not one place where he has shown women in a derogatory way. There is no bum or cleavage shot. He also added that he never asked his audience to look at the girl’s body.
The film is centered around a doctor, who turns into an alcoholic and a drug addict after his college lover breaks his heart.

Tanushree Dutta has been rocking the headlines after she started the #MeToo movement in India. And in a recent interview with BollywoodLife, Tanushree's sister Ishita Dutta talked about her films, #MeToo, Tanushree and other things.
When the actress was asked how the movement affected her and her family. The actress said, "Few things that happened during that time really touched me. Random women shared their stories with me and they expressed as to how they felt encouraged to open up because of my sister. I remember, at an event, a journalist shared her ordeal with me and she couldn't stop crying. The lady sat with me for two hours, it really touched me. Things don't change easily, it takes time. At least now a movement has started, and it will definitely go somewhere."
Ishita was further questioned how did the negativity surrounding her sister during the movement affect her as there were people who even said that it was merely a publicity stunt?
Ishita replied, "she never came to India with the intention of speaking about the same, it just happened. She had opened up ten years ago. The video was online but nobody heard it. Coming to the ones who termed it as a publicity gimmick, all of them have suddenly become quiet. The random people on social media have nothing to say as she went back. She did what she had to do. If Tanushree had to do it for publicity, she would have done it long back. Unfortunately, people always want to see the wrong thing first and it is a harsh reality of life. As a family, we knew the truth and the negativity didn't bother us."

Ranveer Singh makes a strong statement about banning Pakistani artists in India

The recent unfortunate incident of terrorist attack at the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir has shaken the entire nation. With commoners to B-town celebs, many have come out with their experiences of harassment in workplaces in the wake of Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar controversy. And some are claiming that the #MeToo movement has finally hit the Indian shores. Sushmita Sen recently spoke at length about the ongoing controversy and #MeToo movement.
The former beauty queen said that she was reading an interview of Tanushree Dutta and she felt that the latter is right when she says it isn’t about the coming of a #MeToo campaign. Sush thinks the movement, by all means, will come and go, but the problem runs far deeper with mindsets. The ‘Main Hoon Na’ actress believes, to change that, we are looking at an entirely new generation being raised and being educated to believe in their rights and responsibilities. Hence, Sush reportedly said that a campaign will not do it; and we’re not ready for that yet.

Tanushree Dutta recently stated that Nana Patekar harassed her on the sets of 2008 film 'Horn Ok Pleassss'. She even revealed about another such incident while shooting the film 'Chocolate'. The actress alleged that she was asked to take off her clothes to give cues to her co-actor.
Many Bollywood celebs came out in open supported Tanushree while some avoided talking about it. Now, at an event, Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone shared their opinions on the matter and also on India's #MeToo movement. Ranveer said that harassment of any kind is wrong and if such a thing has happened, it takes a lot of courage to come out and speak about the same openly. Hence, you must consider what the person is saying.
While Deepika said that #MeToo is not about gender but about the victory of right over wrong. We should support any person who faces any kind of discrimination or abuse. Its not about female vs male and asked not to complicate or get confused in any manner. She concluded that it was never about gender!
The veteran actor has denied all such allegations by Tanushree and has also sent a legal notice to the actress and asked her for an apology.

Tanushree Dutta's allegations on Nana Patekar has started the #MeToo movement in Bollywood too which has many celebrities coming out in support of the former actress.
Today at the launch of 'Namaste England' new song 'Proper Patola', Bollywood stars Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra too opened up about the #MeToo movement. Talking about the movement Parineeti said, "Honestly, I hope that this isn't the start of the #MeToo movement as this would mean that there would be several other incidents, therefore, I really hope that this is the first and last one if its true. If there are any other women in the Industry who have gone through the same then they should come out and speak as if they don't speak now then they'll forever be suppressed."
She further added, "Personally, I have never been through such an experience but God forbid if any such incident would have happened with me then I would have never kept quiet so which is why keeping quite is never the solution. I am not taking any sides as I wasn't there but if it has happened then its the worst thing that can happen to a woman. If we can't feel protected in our Industry and our country how could I live or do anything? I hope this is all untrue but in case this has happened then we would all support her."
Her co-star Arjun too opened up about the controversial topic saying, "It's not only in this Industry but such incidents can happen anywhere. If anyone has come out in the open we just start making talking about it instead of listening to the person. If a girl has come out and spoken about it then she deserves to be heard before being judgemental and making it a debate and starting a movement. We need to understand that it's not just the film Industry but the finger has been raised in all the professions. As men, we have to give equality to women, we need to create a safe environment for all. If there are more such incident in our Industry then we should make sure that they feel safe to come out and speak about it."
Meanwhile, Tanushree has taken a break from all the media glare due to health reasons but in her latest statement, she has said that she would be back soon.

Actress Tanushree Dutta is currently all over the headlines after she alleged that she was harassed by Nana Patekar on the sets of a film during a song shoot.
In a recent interview, the actress opened up about going under the knife and confessed that she got her teeth done right as she used to be conscious about it since a young age. And that is the only time she did a cosmetic surgery.
In the same interview, she also said that a fellow actress who has done many such surgeries advised everyone to go under the knife. Richa Chadha says there's an unspoken hierarchy on a mainstream film's set
An online portal quoted the actor saying that according to her, working in the mainstream is somewhat stressful, but not in exact sense. There is an unspoken hierarchy in a mainstream film, which she isn’t fond of.
Speaking about her last release, ‘Fukrey Returns’, which was an ensemble cast, Richa believes that being on the top of the hierarchy too makes her uncomfortable. The film had actors such as Pankaj Tripathi, Saurabh Shukla, Vinay Pathak, Divya Dutta, Manoj Pahwa and Pavan Malhotra.
