With the release of 'Bareilly Ki Barfi', starring Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao, director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari found herself feeling nostalgic about her days on the film sets. Taking to Instagram, the filmmaker posted a picture of her leading stars and a touching note to go with it.

Starting with Kriti, she shared a moment from the sets where the actress can be seen wiping her eye with her director by her side. Ashwiny captioned this moment saying, “And this is how she and I spent most of our days. Chatting and understanding each other. Miss you, my lovely ladki @kritisanon more power to you. Next up, she shared a picture with Rajkummar Rao, where the two can be seen chatting on the rooftop. Both seem really engrossed in the conversation. The filmmaker captioned this interesting picture as, “Memories #bareillykibarfi with my bestest @rajkummar_rao chatting and chatting about everything under the sky #cinemalove #lifeofadirector.”

Finally she shared a happy and memorable click with Ayushmann Khurrana that was possibly taken during a bike ride. She also had a really long and touching message for the actor which read, “A moment that will never come back! Last day of shoot. Yes, this happened! 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon were up for some mischief on Saturday as they decided to gatecrash an engagement ceremony at a suburban hotel in Mumbai. "We had warned the event managers but the moment we walked in, I could hear people saying, 'Inko bhi bulaya hai kya?'. And the expression on the new couple's faces was priceless!" recalls Ayushmann in an interview with Mumbai Mirror.

Eventually, the actor got the couple to dance to the tunes of 'Sweety tera drama', from their upcoming rom-com, not once but twice. Even Kriti admitted that she was a bit nervous, having never done anything like this before even with the 'expert' Ayushmann by her side.

Pictures from the party show the two having a dance-off with the newly engaged couple and their family. While Kriti looked breathtaking in a pink ensemble, Ayushmann looked dapper in his quirky outfit.

Shot extensively against the backdrop of Bareilly and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ is rooted in the sub-culture of young India’s rustic heartland. ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ is Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s second film, after her critically acclaimed film, ‘Nil Battey Sannata’. However, this storyline is entirely different from her previous film. This movie captures the essence of North India, with lots of fun elements to it.

Kriti, who made her debut in showbiz along with Tiger Shroff in ‘Heropanti’, won hearts with her girl-next-door meets uptown girl characters in her films. However, in ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, she will, for the first time be seen playing a tomboyish UP girl.

Sanon, who left the audience astonished with her sensual dance numbers like, ‘Aa raat bhar’ and ‘Main tera boyfriend’, is now geared up to set the screen ablaze with her break-dance moves in the upcoming film. Kriti, in the film, reportedly has traits which make her different from other girls in Bareilly.

Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon will be seen sharing screen space for the very first time in ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’. Ayushmann is reportedly playing the owner of a printing press, while Rajkummar would be seen as an author and Kriti as a straightforward and liberated girl in the film.

It has been reported that Ashwiny and the producers put in a lot of effort to contact the publishers in France and procure the rights to the book, ‘The Ingredients of Love’. Her husband Nitesh Tiwari of ‘Dangal’ fame and Shreyas Jain penned the script and changed the location from France to Uttar Pradesh. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Nitesh says that their script borrows from the lives they have lived. "There are characters modelled on people we have grown up with. This is the first time we have written something lighthearted and quirky and I'm eager to see the audience's response," he says.
