We bet you’re one of the millions who have been bowled over by the magnum opus ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’. The ‘Baahubali 2’ fever has gripped the nation and our favourite social commentator Twinkle Khanna too hasn’t been able to escape it. While fans are obsessing over Prabhas and Rana Daggubati’s characters, the author-columnist, on her part, can’t help but rave over the character of Kattappa (played by Sathyaraj) – the loyal army chief of Mahishmati. So much so that she has changed the display picture of her Twitter account to that of Kattappa! Twinkle, in her trademark witty style, tweeted about how she has become a die-hard fan of Kattappa. She wrote, “Saw Baahubali @ I’ve been calling my daughter Kattappa much to her dad’s annoyance-Perhaps he would prefer her being called Rowdy instead J.” In another post, she admitted to being obsessed with the character as she wrote, “All right perhaps I am a bit obsessed- but try it- say Kattappa 3 times and you won’t be able to stop- it’s like eating wafers – addictive!”

Interestingly, it turns out that the infant in that opening scene was actually a girl. According to reports, Akshitha Valslan was only 18 days old when she featured in the film as Mahendra Baahubali. The baby’s father Mr Valslan was a production executive for the sequences shot in Kerala. The makers of the film spotted her during this time and this is how the child got the wonderful opportunity to appear in the magnum opus. Meanwhile, ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has become the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema and is running strong at the box-office.

Remembering their unpleasant days on the sets, Kangana said that at that point, they used to fight a lot and that there was even a time when the two had a really intense argument and stopped talking to each other altogether. Rohit Shetty showers praise on ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’

‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has taken the entire country by storm. The magnum opus, directed by SS Rajamouli, is setting new records with every passing day. While many Bollywood celebrities have lauded the film’s team for its phenomenal success, director Rohit Shetty too heaped praises on the movie at a recent event in Mumbai.

Talking about the film’s unparalleled success, Rohit said, “The success of ‘Baahubali 2’ is because of the script and direction, and not because of Prabhas’ popularity.”

The director also pointed out that the film’s team did not have to go into a promotional overdrive to make it a blockbuster. “As I said earlier, a lot of promotions are not needed for a film to mint more money at the box-office. We normally see actors promoting their films massively on reality shows, in shopping malls, colleges and many other places, which is not needed indeed. Look at ‘Baahubali 2’ and you will get the answer.”

Rohit also expressed his desire to work with ‘Baahubali 2’ lead Prabhas in future. He excitedly said, “I would love to work with Prabhas, of course! Actually, I would love to work with all the actors in the South.”

Ram Gopal Varma questions Sridevi’s decision to reject ‘Baahubali’ franchise

‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has taken the country by storm since its release on April 28, and has already amassed over Rs 1000 Crore, thus becoming the highest grossing Indian film. Apart from Prabhas and Rana Daggubati being lauded for their performance, another actor who earned great praise was Ramya Krishnan for playing the queen mother Sivagami. According to reports, Sridevi was initially offered to play the role of the strong and brave royal but she turned down the part, citing remuneration differences. With the phenomenal success of the film, this film will surely feature on Sridevi's list of 'missed opportunities'. Rubbing salt on her wound was filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma who questioned the actress about her decision to decline the offer.

The maverick director took to Twitter questioning Sridevi why she rejected this golden opportunity and added that she would have won more accolades than leading man Prabhas. RGV said, "I really wonder why @SrideviBKapoor did not do Bahubali 2? What a super outstanding film it would have been for her illustrious career. If @SrideviBKapoor did Bahubali2 she would have gotten more credit than Prabhas it being her very next film after English Vinglish.”

In a strange turn of events, fans found themselves agreeing to Varma's tweet. It remains to be seen if Sridevi responds to this in any way.

Thanks to the ‘Baahubali’ franchise, Prabhas has now gained pan-India fame. He is not only loved and admired by his fans, but even director SS Rajamouli often gets emotional while talking about the actor and this could very well be the reason.

His contribution did not go unnoticed by S.S. Rajamouli and team. During the trailer launch event of ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, they gifted Karan the sword of Baahubali as a token of appreciation. The makers claimed it was this very sword which Katappa used to kill Amarendra Baahubali, thus adding more mystery to the very famous question, ”Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?”

Sathyaraj’s controversial comments on Kannadigas and protests

No big film’s journey is complete without a little controversy. ‘Baahubali 2’ too had its fair share of controversies, the most prominent one being the movie facing massive protests in Karnataka. Apparently, actor Sathyaraj who plays Kattappa in the film spoke ill of the people of Karnataka during a speech on the Cauvery issue. This led to angered protests against the release of the film across the state. Finally, after humble requests from S.S. Rajamouli and an apology from Sathyaraj himself, the protests were called off in time for the film to release without any hassles.

First Indian film to release in 4K

As if the grandeur and compelling plot is not enough, ‘Baahubali’ also became a pioneer in technology. It is about to become the first Indian film to be released in 4K HD format. To ensure that it is executed, more than 200 theatres around the country have switched over to special 4K projectors. With the advent of this technology, ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ promises to redefine the viewing experience for Indian cinema audiences.

‘Baahubali 2’ action sequence leaked by graphic designer

An action sequence between Prabhas and Anushka Shetty was leaked online in March. The five-minute clip had semi rendered CGI shots. Moreover, rumours were rife that right after this scene the secret of why Kattappa killed Baahubali will be revealed in the film. After looking at the footage, the producers discerned that the footage could have been leaked only by Annapurna Studios, one of the many studios involved in production work. Later, the culprit turned out to be a junior graphic designer who was consequently arrested and tried in court.

‘Baahubali’ producers raided by Income Tax officials for black money

Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s landmark decision to demonetize Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the producers of ‘Baahubali’ apparently found themselves in a fix. Up to 25 IT officials raided the producer’s offices in Hyderabad as they suspected them to have black money worth Rs 60 crores in demonetized notes. However, the ‘Baahubali’ team kept hush about the matter and nothing truly ever came to light that either confirmed or denied IT department’s suspicion.

Talks of Prabhas to get married post ‘Baahubali 2’

Prabhas has become one of the biggest stars in the country after the first part of the S.S. Rajamouli epic. He is also one of the most eligible bachelors in Tollywood at the moment. So obviously, talks of his marriage keep surfacing online. Apparently, the actor’s uncle had declared that the actor will tie the knot only once he finishes ‘Baahubali 2’. Now that the shooting is done with and the film is set to release, everyone is intrigued to see if Prabhas will finally end his singlehood. If rumours are to be believed, then the bride is from an influential family in Vishakapatnam and does not belong to the film fraternity in anyway. Only time will tell if there is any truth to these rumours.

Makers create VR booths across the country

‘Baahubali’ has perhaps had some of the most innovative and aggressive promotional campaign in Indian cinema. One of the parts of that campaign was the installation of virtual reality booths in many theatres all across the country to give a more comprehensive experience of the world of ‘Baahubali’. Director S.S. Rajamouli announced the news when he unveiled the first look of the movie back in October. Many VR booths have since been installed with more on the way.

‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ gets a 6000 screen release in China

The Prabhas starrer also made headlines in July last year when it was released in China in a whopping 6000 screens, the highest for any Indian film beating Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ in terms of screen count. Not just in China, the first film has been subsequently released in several countries across the globe. However, with the film not doing so well on the Chinese market, it remains to be seen if ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ will fare any better in China.
