Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming film ‘Sanju’ featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead is one of the much-awaited films of 2018. Filmmaker Rajkumar’s association with Aamir Khan has been evident over the years – in real and reel life both.

Recently in a media interaction, the ‘Dangal’ actor was questioned about the rumours of him being approached to play Sunil Dutt’s role in the film. To which the actor responded by saying, “He [Rajkumar Hirani] approached me with the script and I loved it. I think he has written it beautifully, and he said 'I want you to play Dutt saab' role'. Dutt saab's role is fantastic, BTW, when you watch the film you will see it is largely the film explores the relationship between a father and a son."

He further added, "BUT Sanju's role is unbelievable. As an actor, I told Raju that Sanjay's role is so good that it has won my heart and in this film, I can't do any other role but Sanjay Dutt which I can't do because Ranbir is doing. So, don't offer me any other role because I won't be able to do it. I can't come to the set thinking that 'yeh lines meri honi chahiye.'"

However, he did praise Ranbir’s contribution in the film. Aamir said, “I am sure Ranbir has done a fab job. He is a fantastic actor. I can't wait to watch the film."

‘Sanju’ is slated to release on June 29, 2018.

Just like the rest of the country, the film industry, too, is divided over Aamir Khan’s remarks about wife Kiran Rao’s question of leaving India due to the growing number of intolerant incidents. Citing safety reasons, Aamir asks wife and kid to leave Mumbai for 2-3 days

Aamir Khan, who is currently receiving severe backlashes for his comment on the growing intolerance in India, has asked his wife Kiran and their child to leave Mumbai for a few days, citing safety reasons, reported Hindustan Times. Police complaints have been filed against the actor for the comments that he had made at a media award function. There have been reports of protests outside his residence, where furious activists had painted his poster black, before lighting it on fire. VHP leader, Sadhvi Prachi, was quoted saying, "Out of Pakistan, Syria, Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, Turkey and Israel, they (Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan) should disclose the name of the country where they want to go. We will arrange tickets for them.” [sic] While many people, including actors and politicians, are critising Aamir, he has recieved support from the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party.

Aamir Khan has now found his onscreen wife for Dangal, in Sakshi Tanwar of Bade Acche Lagte Hain fame. Aamir Khan had two special visitors last week. Babita and Geeta Phogat, daughters of wrestler Mahavir Phogat, flew down to the city from Haryana to meet the actor. Aamir’s much awaited biopic, Dangal, is based on their father’s life. Aamir's spokesperson confirmed the news, “Aamir was very keen to meet them, and all of their schedules finally matched. So the girls came down to Mumbai. Aamir was a gracious host and ensured that they were taken care of. It was an emotional meeting for the trio. They discussed Mahavir’s life, what he had taught the girls, and more.”


Aamir wanted to meet Babita and Geeta primarily to know more about their dad. The spokesperson further added, “He wants to understand his personality before starting to shoot for the film. The trio had a long conversation, where the girls provided him with insight into their own respective journeys and their lifestyle back home. They stayed in the city for a couple of days and are excited to see how the film will turn out,” the spokesperson added.

Dangal: Have the makers found a villain for Aamir's film?

Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal has been in the news ever since its inception. Mr perfectionist plays a wrestler in this project helmed by Nitesh Tiwari. The makers may have just zeroed in on the villain. In a report on Indianexpress.com, an insider was quoted as saying that Vikram Singh, who played the baddie in Heropanti, is being considered for the role, as he fits the bill perfectly. The source adds that the makers were in talks with him. However, an insider close to the project, neither confirmed nor denied the news. He stated that since the film was set in Haryana, they needed someone who hails from the state and knows the language and that they were in talks with a lot of people who have been shortlisted.

Aamir Khan is preparing for his role of a wrestler in Dangal. However, he is planning to do another film before starting work on the film where he plays the father of four girls. According to a report on Bollywoodlife.com, the film that he is planning to shoot for, in the interim period, is the biopic of crime journalist, J Dey. The biopic, that has been titled, Mid Dey, is expected to take only 20-25 days of Aamir's time, which is why the actor has agreed to wrap up the film before he channels his energies to the other project. In Dangal, Aamir Khan plays the father of two young wrestlers, Geeta and Babita, being played by Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, who were finalised some time ago. But Mr Perfectionist will not only be seen training these young actors, but also training two other actors who play the younger Geeta and Babita. The screening process for the actors has been going on since January and Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar have now been selected for the roles. Aamir had to gain about 30 kgs to play the role of Mahavir Singh from Haryana's Balali village. The wrestler had coached his daughters who went on to be India's first female wrestlers to win gold the silver respectively at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 55-kg freestyle category. Two more actresses are supposed to be roped in soon to play the other two daughters of Mahavir Singh.

It was reported that that Mumbai girl Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, a trained ballet dancer from Delhi, have bagged the coveted roles of Aamir Khan's wrestler daughters in Dangal after months of auditions. Now, according to Mumbai Mirror, two little girls, Zaira Wasim from Kashmir and Suhani Bhatnagar from Delhi have also been cast to play the younger Fatima and Sanya in the sports biopic. The Nitesh Tiwari-directed film is inspired by the story of former wrestler Mahavir Singh, from Haryana's Balali village, who coached his daughters to historic wins. Geeta Phogat was India's first female wrestler to win gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 55-kg freestyle category. Her sister, Babita Kumari, bagged the silver. All the four girls have been housed in Aamir's former apartment in Bandra where they are living together and religiously following a strict daily regime, the report stated.

According to a source close to the development, the four wake up early and go for wrestling training. They are joined by their producer Aamir who plays their dad in the film. "After a few hours of gruelling kushti sessions, they return to the apartment where they have to take compulsory rest before sitting down to lunch," added the source. Further to the report, all meals are prepared by a hired cook who keeps dietary specifications in mind and ensures that the food served is nutritious. Aamir has lunch and dinner with them. Early evenings are for Haryanvi lessons and dialect training. This is followed by strength building sessions in the gym. All through the day, Aamir keeps them company as he shuttles between his home and theirs, between the rigid routine and other commitments, the report concluded.

Siddique and lead actor Gabriel Vats of upcoming film I Am Mr. Mother have penned a letter, requesting superstar Aamir Khan to lend support to the issue of pregnancy deaths, as reported by IANS. Similarly, my film shows the importance and difficulties associated with giving birth to a life. According to an IANS report, the actor has now gained weight for Dangal, in which he plays a wrestler, and weighs 95 kg at present. Aamir was quoted in the report as saying, "I am 95 kg right now and that's enough for the character. My breathing has changed... when I tie my laces, my stomach comes in between. After 20 seconds, I have to take a long breath. My mom and my wife are very worried about my health as they feel I am playing with my health. Even I feel the same," he added.

The Gujarat High Court nullified a case against Aamir Khan and four others of illegal commercial shooting of protected animal, Chinkara, during the filming of Lagaan in Kutch. Chief Justice VM Sahai discovered that no live Chinkara was used or was in possession of the petitioner and the footage seen in the film was actually computer-generated.

The complaint was filed by the Gujarat Forest Department.

Actor Aamir Khan will be producing Advait Chandan's directorial under his banner, reports Mumbai Mirror. The film, which is still untitled, is likely to go on floors later this year, the report stated. This film will mark the directorial debut of Advait Chandan, who was handling Aamir's work for five years and simultaneously developing a script. He recently narrated the story to his boss who was completely bowled over, the report further stated. The report quoted a source close to the development, "It's a beautiful story of an adolescent girl who aspires to become a singer. The casting is currently on. They are looking for a new face, a girl who knows how to sing, because the film will require her to be comfortable in front of the mic." The source added that Advait has been relieved of all his responsibilities so he can concentrate on his film. "Aamir has now got himself a new manager by the name of Shamath."

Aamir spoke at the prestigious sixth annual Women in the World summit, reports PTI. "Rape is a big issue in India,” he said in a session titled ‘Tackling India's Taboos’. The PK star said that a rape survivor is often ill-treated by police and medical staff and does not get swift justice, the report stated.
"The balance of power in India needs to change. Unless conviction becomes swift and certain, things are not going to change in India. And very importantly, as a society we have to shun the rapist and hold the survivor close," Aamir said to a huge round of applause from the audience.

According to a PTI report, Aamir Khan couldn’t control his tears after he watched Kalki Koechlin starrer Margarita, With a Straw at a private screening. About Aamir being so moved by the film, Kalki said, “Aamir loved the film. He was weeping while watching it. It's surreal to have him sit next to me and say 'Kalki, what can I do to get people watch this movie?' It's excellent. Reportedly, Aamir has gained massive weight to depict a 55-year-old wrestler in the film, and is going the extra mile to get the look right. The report quoted a health expert Arnav Sarkar saying that Aamir is taking a major risk with his health as the body needs time to adjust to any weight gain or loss, and hastening this can lead to health problems. Explaining further, the health expert said that a weight gain of about 3-4 kilos can be expected without steroids in a short span of time, but massive gain like 10 kilos or more would indicate the use of steroids. Use of steroids can pose several problems like skin problems, high blood pressure, impotence, heart attacks, and even death, the report concluded with the expert's quote.

According to a PTI report, Aamir Khan has expressed deep concern at the FICCI Frames event on how 80 percent of the kids are forced to watch content inappropriate for them which is indeed ‘scary’. The actor threw light on how there is a dearth of content for kids which can inculcate the qualities of honesty and caring in them. He stressed upon creating good content for children which can have a lasting impact on their entire generation. Calling the film, TV and media industry to develop such content for kids, Aamir said they have the opportunity to "transform the way we think, the way we address issues."

According to a report on Pinkvilla.com, actor Aamir Khan took off on sex comedies at the CBFC meeting that was held in attendance with a few Bollywood actors and directors, including the PK star. The report further states that a source present at the meeting stated that Aamir started talking about why sex comedies should not be made and what all is wrong with such films, adding that the actor should have realised that he was not on his talk show Satyamev Jayate. Aamir had also been in the news for voicing his opinion against the AIB Roast which he did not find appealing. He had received a lot of flak for the same with many questioning his movie Delhi Belly which was an adult comedy with expletives in it.

The film will be Aamir's manager Advait Chandan's maiden directorial venture, the report stated. The report quoted a source saying that Aamir's manager, who is turning a director, apparently approached Aamir for help, and he readily agreed to be a part of the film. The film revolves around a teenage girl who saves her mother from her abusive father with the help of an alcoholic divorcee, the report further quoted the source. However, Aamir Khan went on record to deny the news saying that he is not even looking at scripts, as he is busy with Dangal, the report concluded.
