Bridgerton's Yerin Ha on filming her first intimate scene: It was all about surrendering and trusting the process
Australian actress Yerin Ha (who plays Sophia Baek) who joined the cast of Bridgerton (Season 4) filmed her first-ever intimate scene with Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton). In a chat, Yerin opens up about the experience, and describes it as a process of letting go rather than overthinking. She said, “I think it’s about surrendering and feeling the fear. I think if I had blocked it, it would have bubbled up in other ways — not necessarily negative — but I feel it was just a true sense of surrender and trusting that there are people around me who are going to take care of me and guide me and make sure that it’s going to be good. They’re not going to want to make me fail.”
She credits both the environment on set and her co-actor for making the experience less daunting. “When you have a co-actor who you can really trust, and you shift the perspective from it being an intimate scene to a story scene, it actually becomes way less daunting. It’s more like they have to do this because they just couldn’t hold it in anymore. It’s almost like in a musical — you start singing when there are no more words to express how you’re feeling. It’s like that, but with the love and passion that these two characters have,” she explains.
Despite being part of the Netflix show, Yerin insists she doesn’t dwell on the possibility of fame. “There are already so many psychological obstacles that I have to think about. If I start thinking about external factors, I’m not actually putting my energy in the right place, which is into the work and doing the best I can. And as a by-product, if that happens — sure, great,” she says.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
