‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’

This coming-of-age blockbuster beautifully captures the thrill and serenity of the mountains. The trekking scenes shot in Manali, Gulmarg, and Himachal’s charming village sets make the journey feel wholesome and adventurous. Bunny and Naina’s mountain trek is all about freedom, rediscovery, and breathtaking vistas. After watching it, you’ll want to pack your backpack and head for a trek yourself. Manali’s pine forests and snowy slopes steal the show throughout the film.

‘Highway’

Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’ is practically a love letter to India’s mountains. The film’s journey moves through Kashmir’s Aru Valley, Punjab’s fields, and deep into the rugged mountains of Spiti and Kinnaur. Each frame makes the landscapes look raw, untouched, and deeply spiritual. The mountains become a metaphor for freedom as Veera discovers herself. If you crave solitude and soul-stirring scenery, this film will push you toward the Himalayas.

3/7

‘Kashmir Ki Kali’

A classic from the 1960s, ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’ showcases Kashmir at its timeless best. From Dal Lake’s shimmering beauty to the vibrant houseboats and chinar trees, the film is a visual ode to paradise. Sharmila Tagore and Shammi Kapoor’s romance blooms amidst snow peaks and pristine waters. The serene shikara rides alone will tempt you to plan a Kashmir holiday. It's the perfect reminder of why Kashmir is called heaven on Earth.

4/7

‘Lakshya’

Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Lakshya’ delivers some of Bollywood’s most iconic mountain visuals, shot across Leh and Ladakh. The rugged terrain, vast barren mountains, and surreal high-altitude landscapes give the film a powerful backdrop. Hrithik Roshan’s character arc is amplified by the grandness of the setting. Ladakh’s breathtaking solitude makes you long for an adventure trip. The film’s visuals still remain unmatched when it comes to capturing India’s stark mountain beauty.

5/7

‘Fanaa’

Although Kashmir-inspired, much of ‘Fanaa’ was shot in the Tatra Mountains of Poland because of safety concerns at the time. The film offers postcard-perfect snow-covered slopes, cozy wooden cabins, and Alpine scenery. Kajol and Aamir Khan’s chemistry unfolds amid powdery snow and icy valleys. The landscapes make you crave a winter getaway in the mountains. Its snowy visuals are perfect inspiration for a white Christmas-style holiday.

6/7

‘Kedarnath’

Set against the majestic Himalayan backdrop of Kedarnath, this film captures the spiritual and scenic essence of Uttarakhand. From the quaint hill-town visuals to the towering mountains and winding rivers, the setting feels divine. Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput’s love story unfolds amidst the beauty and fury of nature. The pilgrimage route, the misty mornings, and riverside trails make the mountains feel magical. Watching this film will make you long for a trip to the Garhwal Himalayas.

7/7

‘Lootera’

Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘Lootera’ is a stunningly shot film with its second half taking place in the snow-covered hills of Dalhousie. The stark white landscapes create a haunting, poetic atmosphere. Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha’s emotionally heavy story is elevated by the tranquil, mist-laden mountains. Dalhousie appears serene, quiet, and deeply romantic on screen. It’s the perfect inspiration for a peaceful winter retreat.
