When Raai Laxmi called her relationship with MS Dhoni a 'scar': 'He has moved on and gotten married'

Raai Laxmi, widely known by her screen name Lakshmi Rai, has acted in several films across Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi over the years. She made her debut in 2005 with the Tamil film 'Karka Kasadara'. Apart from being a favourite among South Indian audiences, Raai also made headlines for her previously rumoured relationship with Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Rumours swirled as the two were frequently seen attending parties together, with Dhoni even attending Laxmi’s birthday celebration. Though neither publicly confirmed the relationship in exact terms, their frequent public appearances fuelled speculation.

In 2014, Raai opened up about the rumours and told Zee News that her relationship with Dhoni was like a scar or stain. “I’ve begun to believe that my relationship with Dhoni is like a stain or a scar which won’t go away for a long time. I am surprised that people still have the energy and patience to talk about it even now. Every time TV channels dig into Dhoni’s past, they make it a point to bring up our relationship. I dread to think that someday my future children will see it on TV and ask me about it!”


She further explained that the separation was amicable, and they parted on good terms. Reflecting on the experience, she said she knew him very well but wasn’t even sure if it could be called a relationship, as “it never worked out.” Despite everything, she emphasized that there was still mutual respect. He has moved on and is now married, she noted, adding, “That’s the end of the story.” She concluded by affirming that she is in a happy place and fully focused on her career, stating that work is her top priority.
