When Natha got mobbed!
That Omkar Das Manikpuri has become a household name after his debut in Aamir Khan’s “Peepli Live” became even more evident recently, while he was in Lucknow.
The actor was in town recently to be a part of the celebrations organised to comemorate ruling party’s completion of four years in office.
Said Omkar Das, aka Natha, “It’s difficult for me to move around in public places,” with a smile.

And when we asked him to explain, he said, “Just this morning, I had stepped out of my hotel to purchase something from the local market (Gomtinagar area where he was putting up) and a crowd ran up and surrounded me. Logon ne mera gherao kar dia and zor zor se Naththa-Naththa chillane lage. Some of people even took out their mobiles and started clicking pictures of mine and a few even made videos of me talking,” while admitting that he began to feel a bit apprehensive. “People asked me if I was here for some filmshooting and even took an autograph from me,” he continued.
While some wanted to know whether Omkar Das was here for a film shoot, others others requested him to sign autographs and get pictures clicked with them. Though Omkar Das obliged almost all his fans, he found making his way out of the shop difficult, until a couple of salesmen from the shop escorted him back to his hotel.
“Well, it was certainly a great experience, seeing the way people recognised me and showed their love and appreciation. At the same time, I was unaccompanied and to be surrounded by a crowd was kind of unnerving,” said Omkar Das, who will soon be seen in a film “Aalap”, directed by Manish Manikpuri.
