Bollywood is seeing a clear divide between those addressing the #MeToo movement and others, choosing to star mum through it all. While some members of the industry came forward to share their past experiences of harassment and even validate claims of victims, there have been a few who have done their bit by lending their supporting to the movement.
Diandra Soares, who was one of the many women who accused
Suhel Seth of sexual harassment, has been condemning several Bollywood stars, including
Amitabh Bachchan for their “silence” during these trying times.
In an interview with Zoom, Diandra pointed out how Bollywood has been ignorant and claimed that industry folk have collectively decided to not actively get involved in the ongoing debates hinting at a “domino effect”.
She also questioned how few within the industry have reached an “obnoxious level of behaviour where it has reached to rape” and said that everyone involved has “enabled this behaviour.” She also went on to say that everyone is turning a deaf ear and a blind eye until it happens to one of their own. Diandra predicted that that will be the tipping point when everyone makes a big noise about it.
