Wadala suspended for insulting Valmiki
`Shootout At Wadala' sparked massive protests in Punjab on Monday morning, after which the authorities, as a pre-emptive measure, suspended its screening in many theatres in the state.
Thousands of protestors came out in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Bathinda and Moga (actor Sonu Sood’s hometown) against allegedly derogatory remarks against Valmiki. Ishwar Singh, police commissioner, Ludhiana, said the protesters belonged to Bhartiya Valmiki Dharam Samaj.

Deepak Hans, representative of Dr Ambedkar Ekta Mission, said, “There’s a dialogue in the film, ‘Har chor Valmiki nahi hota’. This is an attempt to insult Valmikiji.” According to sources, notices have been drafted where producer Ekta Kapoor has been made a party.
