Vihaan Samat calls recreating the ‘Sid-Kiara’ wedding scene his most memorable moment from ‘Call Me Bae’
In the recent OTT series Call Me Bae, Vihaan Samat and Ananya Panday took center stage in a narrative that humorously intertwines their characters' lives with real-life Bollywood glamour. The series, which premiered on September 6, 2024, features Ananya as Bella Chowdhary, a wealthy socialite who faces a life-altering crisis, prompting her to seek a new identity in Mumbai.
A standout moment from the series is the parody of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani's wedding, which sparked considerable buzz among audiences. The wedding scene in Call Me Bae mirrors the viral wedding moments of Sidharth and Kiara, with Ananya's character, Bae, marrying Vihaan's Agastya Chowdhary.
The scene captures Bae's playful bridal entry, complete with gestures reminiscent of Kiara's own wedding, such as pulling on an imaginary rope and Agastya checking his watch impatiently. Vihaan expressed his initial apprehension about this recreation and told the Free Press Journal, that it was a particularly memorable moment during the Call Me Bae shoot. The director, Collin D'Cunha, showed him a clip on his phone and instructed him to replicate it. Vihaan expressed his hope saying “‘Okay’. This is Sidharth and Kiara. I just hope that the entire segment lives up to what the original was.”
Apart from this series, Vihaan and Ananya have collaborated for their upcoming film CTRL, which is set to release on October 4, 2024. In an interview with ETimes, while reflecting on their working relationship, Vihaan had shared, “There was familiarity, so it was easier to work as we had worked together on a film. But the job is still difficult, it's a whole new character, a whole new experience, it's a different tone, vibe and different camera angles also.”
