Varun Dhawan slams troll culture, defends Arjun Kapoor, and says, ‘Don’t go so personal'
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has spoken strongly against online trolling. The 'Border 2' actor addressed the issue while reacting to the harassment faced by Arjun Kapoor. The actor made it clear that there is a limit to jokes and crossing into personal attacks is unacceptable. Varun is no stranger to trolling himself. He said he understands how social media works. However, he believes some lines should not be crossed.

Varun Dhawan reacts to Arjun Kapoor’s trolling

The topic gained attention after Arjun Kapoor shared an emotional post. It was on his late mother Mona Shourie Kapoor’s birth anniversary. His words about life being “tough” and “cruel” worried fans, and soon after, trolling and harsh comments followed online. Reacting to this, Varun did not hold back. He said in an interview with Yuva, “It’s wrong. See, what is funny is funny. I can laugh about it also. But I don’t get this how people are abusing it to put down a person. Make fun; that’s okay. But you don’t have to go so personal. And that is what I didn’t agree with. Make fun na; nobody is stopping you. I don’t think you can stop people, and we shouldn’t also."

Drawing the line between humor and hate

Varun Dhawan stressed that there is a clear difference between jokes and attacks.
Memes and lighthearted fun are part of celebrity life, and he even said he laughs at memes about himself. Varun revealed that his friends often share such memes with him, and this helps him take things lightly. It also gives him perspective. However, the 'Badlapur' actor pointed out that things change when people turn abusive. Personal insults and targeted harassment cross the line. According to him, such behavior is harmful and unnecessary.

Varun Dhawan on accepting criticism

The actor also spoke about dealing with criticism as a celebrity. He acknowledged that public figures must accept opinions and believes criticism comes with the profession. He said, “We are public figures, so part of it is that people have the right to criticize you. And you have to be okay with that. I am fully okay with that. That’s what I signed up for. There are also enough pros I can get. If something sucks, people are going to say it sucks and that they don’t like it. We are here because of the audience today.”

Varun Dhawan's concerns over manipulated narratives

Varun also raised concerns about how narratives are shaped online. He pointed out that social media can be manipulated. According to him, this is becoming a serious issue. He added, “But when people start paying for shit, when people start doing fake stuff. Today it is manipulatable. I can’t lie about that. You can buy a bunch of creators to set or not set a narrative."Meanwhile, on the work front, Varun Dhawan was last seen in the epic action film 'Border 2,' which had Sunny Deol in the lead.
