Vardhan Puri shares Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher's old anecdote, is grateful for the "greatest teachers" in his life
As the grandson of the legendary actor Amrish Puri, Vardhan is following in his grandfather's footsteps for his career in showbiz. He made his acting debut in the 2019 film 'Yeh Saali Aashiqui', where he played dual roles. Before stepping into the limelight, Vardhan honed his skills behind the scenes, working as an assistant director on notable films like Daawat-e-Ishq and Ishaqzaade.
Vardhan Puri recently shared an anecdote about Bollywood veterans Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher and how Amitabh's words left an indelible mark on him. Vardhan has always been vocal about his inspirations and the lessons he has learned from industry maestros.
During an interview with Bollywood Now, Vardhan recounted a story shared by veteran actor Anupam Kher. The anecdote dates back to a film shoot in Hyderabad, where Kher and Bachchan were working together under sweltering conditions. The air-conditioners on set had malfunctioned, leaving the cast and crew to endure the oppressive heat. Kher, feeling the brunt of the temperature, urged the director to expedite his shot. Amidst this, he noticed Bachchan, comfortably seated in a kurta-pyjama, jacket, and shawl, seemingly unaffected by the heat.
Kher then asked Bachchan, "Main yahan tapp raha hoon, aap yahan par bethe ho aur aapko garmi nahin lag rahi (I am feeling hot but how come you don't)?" Vardhan quoted Kher as saying. Bachchan's response was both simple and profound, "When I think about the heat, I feel hot, but if I don’t think about it, it doesn’t affect me."
He expressed gratitude for the "greatest teachers" in his life, who have imparted invaluable lessons about both life and cinema, especially his grandfather Amrish Puri. Vardhan views it as his responsibility to carry forward their legacy, a task he approaches with reverence and dedication.
Puri was last seen in Vikram Bhatt's 'Bloody Ishq' alongside Avika Gor, and has worked with Anupam Kher in 'The Last Show' in 2021.
