Amruta Khanvilkar has begun 2026 with confidence, clarity, and a strong sense of direction. Riding on the release of 'Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web', the actor says the new year has already brought momentum. At the same time, she is vocal about a long standing professional wish that continues to guide her choices. Khanvilkar says she is manifesting an opportunity to work with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a goal rooted in genuine appreciation she once received from him.

A clear dream for the year ahead

According to Mid-Day, Khanvilkar revealed that Bhansali had personally praised her work in her 2022 Marathi film 'Chandramukhi'. She recalled a conversation with the filmmaker after the film’s release that left a lasting impact on her. “Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir really liked the film and my songs in it,” she said. The actor is currently earning praise for her role in 'Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web', which premiered on Netflix. The series features her as a tough, sharp customs officer, a role that underlines her ability to lead a narrative with authority.
The project has given her a strong opening to the year and reinforced her standing in the digital space.Alongside the crime series, Khanvilkar is also preparing for 'Space Gen: Chandrayaan', marking another shift in genre and scale. The back-to-back projects reflect her focus on range rather than repetition.

Embracing variety across platforms

The report further stated that Khanvilkar will next be seen in a JioCinema series, where she plays a homemaker, a stark contrast to her role in 'Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web'. Speaking about the transition, she said, “If in Taskaree, I play a feisty customs officer, the upcoming JioHotstar series features me as a homemaker.”Despite the character's softer tone, she said the role offered depth. “I have to credit the writers [Arunabh Kumar, Shubham Sharma, and Nitin Tiwari], because when the role is written beautifully, an actor just has to go and do her job,” she said. She added, “When a writer crafts a good scene, they give an actor that space to perform.”With varied roles, meaningful writing, and a dream firmly in place, Khanvilkar sees 2026 as a year of growth and possibility.
