Tanushree Dutta makes shocking claim about exploitation in showbiz: 'Many newcomers get abused... some end up in prostitution'
Tanushree Dutta has once again spoken about the darker side of the entertainment industry, warning aspiring actors about manipulation, exploitation and the dangers of blindly trusting people who promise opportunities.
Speaking in a recent podcast conversation with Meri Saheli, Tanushree said that many newcomers are first lured with praise and promises before being drawn into difficult situations.
“Handsome hai, beauty hai — tabhi toh kisi ne unko chadha diya hai. Talent hai ya nahi hai, aaye toh hai. Sabko koi na koi compliment dene wala mil hi jaata hai — ‘aap toh heroine banoge, aap toh yeh banoge’,” she said.
According to the actor, such compliments are often the beginning of a larger trap.
“Char log aake aapko compliment denge aur phir char log aapko behkaane bhi aa jayenge. Pehle chadhaate hain, phir bolte hain ‘inse mil lo, wahan mil lo.’ Aapko bahut sanyam se rehna padta hai,” she added.
“Parents ne bachpan mein kya sikhaya? Strangers ke saath nahi jaana. Agar koi chocolate dikhaaye toh kya aap uske saath chale jaoge?” she said.
She explained that in the entertainment industry, the “temptation” comes in a different form.
“Yahaan chocolate chocolate nahi hota. Yahaan alag tarah ka chocolate hota hai. Log aapke ambition, hopes aur aspirations ko use karte hain. Unse khelte hain,” Tanushree said.
“Main aaj yeh sab isliye bol rahi hoon kyunki agar mujhe platform mila hai aur agar main chaar bhi zindagiyan bacha loon, toh woh mere liye bahut hai,” she said.
Tanushree added that many struggling actors face exploitation and eventually disappear from the public eye.
“Bahut saare ladke aur ladkiyan yahaan aate hain. Woh use aur abuse hote hain aur phir literally throw kar diye jaate hain,” she said.
“Kuch log prostitution mein chale jaate hain kyunki itna abuse ho chuka hota hai ki log unko us dhande mein daal dete hain. Kuch log itne damage ho jaate hain ki woh apne shehar wapas chale jaate hain,” she said.
According to the actress, these stories rarely become public because the industry tends to highlight only success stories.
“Yeh kahaniyan kabhi bahar nahi aati. Bahar sirf success stories aati hain,” she added.
“Maine usse kaha — agar mujhe kisi se mohabbat ho jaaye aur main uski girlfriend hoon, woh meri marzi hai. Lekin main apni zindagi ka sauda nahi karungi,” she said.

Tanushree said the advice parents give children about being cautious around strangers remains relevant even in adulthood. She explained that in the entertainment industry, the “temptation” comes in a different form.

‘If I can save even four lives’
The actress said one of the reasons she speaks openly about such issues is to warn young aspirants who come to the industry chasing dreams.“Main aaj yeh sab isliye bol rahi hoon kyunki agar mujhe platform mila hai aur agar main chaar bhi zindagiyan bacha loon, toh woh mere liye bahut hai,” she said.

‘Some even get pushed into prostitution’
Speaking about the severe consequences of such exploitation, Tanushree claimed that some victims are pushed into even darker situations.“Kuch log prostitution mein chale jaate hain kyunki itna abuse ho chuka hota hai ki log unko us dhande mein daal dete hain. Kuch log itne damage ho jaate hain ki woh apne shehar wapas chale jaate hain,” she said.

‘I am an artist, I won’t sell my life’
Tanushree also revealed that she once ended a friendship with an actress after hearing comments that seemed to justify compromising situations in the industry.“Maine usse kaha — agar mujhe kisi se mohabbat ho jaaye aur main uski girlfriend hoon, woh meri marzi hai. Lekin main apni zindagi ka sauda nahi karungi,” she said.
