Over the years, the Bollywood industry has seen the rise and fall of many legendary and iconic actors who have come and gone. In recent years, however, many old actors have managed to make a big bang with a comeback after years of hiatus. ​Bobby Deol

Bobby Deol had been out of the limelight for quite some time after a lot of his projects relatively didn’t do well. His films like ‘Gupt,’ ‘Soldier’, and ‘Badal’ managed to help him become one of the most popular actors in the industry; however, as the years went by, the star lost out on a lot of projects. After a long time away from films and shows, he went on to appear in ‘Race 3’ in 2018; however, even that film did not fare well with the public. Soon, though, he managed to make his big comeback and shoot to fame with the web series ‘Aashram’.

Pooja Bhatt

Pooja Bhatt is another name whose comeback can be called nothing short of inspiring. Although she was continuously active in the industry as a director and producer, her acting career took a major hit. Though after a 21-year hiatus, the multifaceted legend made a banging comeback on screen with the OTT series ‘Bombay Begums’ where she played the role of a CEO and managed to garner a lot of praise for her acting skills. Afterwards, she also starred in the online series titled ‘Big Girls Don't Cry’, which also brought her back into the limelight as an actor.

​Late actress Sridevi

Known for her multitalented background, Sridevi was another veteran actress who had lost out on roles and had undergone a 15-year hiatus. Her comeback to the big screen came with the hit movie ‘English Vinglish’ in 2012, where she played the role of a housewife who is teased by her family and friends for not understanding English. The film’s success brought her back into the stardom light. Her role was praised by many at the time of release as well.

​Moushumi Chatterjee

Moushumi Chatterjee is another renowned name in both Hindi and Bengali cinema. In the 1970’s she was one of the highest-paid actresses as well. While she has remained active in the industry, her rise back to fame came with her 2015 film ‘Piku’ alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Irrfan Khan. Her latest work, a Bengali action drama film titled ‘Aarii’, was also well received, where she starred along with Yash Dasgupta and Nusrat Jahan.

​Fardeen Khan

He was once considered to be one of the most loved Bollywood stars at the beginning of his career. His movies, such as ‘Fida’ and ‘Jungle’, helped him rise to popularity amongst the masses. In 2010, after his break from acting, he underwent a lot of challenges, including being criticised for his weight gain. After almost 14 years, he finally made his return to the big screen with a bang. His feature in the online series created by none other than Sanjay Leela Bhansali made him an overnight sensation yet again. The actor’s role in ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ was well praised by many and helped him come back to the limelight. His story is an inspiring feat of how, when you have a dream, there is nothing stopping you from achieving it.

​Sushmita Sen

Sen is another inspiring story of a comeback. The last time the actress featured in a film was in a 2015 Bengali release. After that, she made appearances in TV and online shows; however did not manage to gain traction until her 2020 show ‘Aarya’. The series brought her a lot of critical acclaim online and managed to become one of the top-rated shows at the time of its release. Afterwards, in 2023, she appeared in the main role in ‘Taali’ where she played a transgender character who fought for the rights of others in her community. Her performance in the film was praised by many, with many people praising her for taking on a taboo role and representing it beautifully.
