Reacting to the apex court’s order, Nitish said, "Today, the Supreme Court has justified and legalized the actions taken by the Bihar police on the FIR lodged by Sushant’s father in Patna and the Bihar government’s decision to hand over the case to the CBI."

Ordering a CBI probe into the matter, Justice Hrishikesh Roy said, "While according approval for the ongoing CBI investigation, if any other case is registered on the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and the surrounding circumstances of his unnatural death, the CBI is directed to investigate the new case as well."

In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Raveen says, "I am glad that the CBI will now take over. We all want to know what happened and we need closure on the case. It has only got murkier by the day from whatever we see on the news."

When quizzed if the Mumbai Police will be conducting a parallel investigation, state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh responded saying "The state government will think as per paragraph 34 of the Supreme Court order."

Reacting to the news of the Supreme Court handing over the Sushant Singh Rajput case to the CBI, Vinay Tiwari, IPS officer from Bihar, has termed the court order an expression of trust in the state police’s investigation.

Fans of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput burst crackers in Saharsa celebrating the Supreme Court's decision to have a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation in the case.

Earlier in the day, Sushant's brother-in-law had taken to social media to share a tweet along with a blog link where he called the late actor's 'the great Indian dream'. He wrote, "And this is what resonates with the public. Sushant and his family represent the aspirations of India. Sushant and his family represent self-reliance, hard work, economic progression; the great Indian dream. #CBIForSSR"

According to top CBI sources, the agency will write to the Mumbai Police to share all the evidence it has collected in the probe.The CBI will seek details of the autopsy report, crime scene photographs from the Mumbai Police and the same will be shared with the forensic experts posted at CFSL. The sources said that the agency will demand the statements of all the persons whose statements were recorded in the last two months and the electronic devices of the late actor which are with the Mumbai Police.

Report: BMC says that if the CBI plans to stay in Mumbai for less than 7 days, they won't be put under quarantine. If they want to stay for more than 7 days, they'll have to seek an exemption.

Update: 2 top Mumbai cops to be examined and questioned by CBI SIT. While one officer is allegedly accused of staying in touch with prime suspect the second reportedly did not take the complaint of Sushant’s brother-in-law seriously.

"The records of the case produced before this court, does not prima facie suggest any wrongdoing by the Mumbai Police. However, their obstruction to the Bihar police team at Mumbai could have been avoided since it gave rise to suspicion on the bonafide of their inquiry," the bench said.

Update: Key Maharashtra Govt meeting is reprotedly underway to decide the future course of action post the SC verdict. Sources say, "Legal opinion is also being sought from the State Advocate General."
