During the COVID-19 lockdown,
Sonu Sood’s humanitarian work made headlines, and support for those in need has been extended by him once again. He visited villages in
Punjab that were hit by floods and was one of the celebrities to offer help. He shared a video on social media showing himself on a boat with local volunteers as they moved through the flooded areas.
Villagers’ kindness moves
Despite the problems the villagers are facing, they gave food to Sonu Sood, which made him feel touched by their kindness. The actor asked everyone to help these communities. He said it is important to support the farmers and families who grow food for the country. The recent floods covered all the crops, and even though the water will go down, the farmers will need more help because they lost their harvest.
Actor’s message to support farmers
Taking to Instagram, the actor said, “Today, we have visited several villages since morning and whenever we go to people’s homes, they offer us food, tea or milk. Think about the farmers who provide this food, who feed the entire country, their crops are now underwater. This water will decrease, but their needs will only increase. We need to come together to help them get back on their feet and it is our responsibility to repay the debt of the food they give us."
Other celebrities join relief efforts
Many other actors, including Randeep Hooda, Salman Khan,
Shah Rukh Khan,
Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk, and
Sonam Bajwa, have also helped people affected by the floods.
Flood impact and relief efforts
As per The Hindu reports, emergency food aid is being distributed to those impacted by the recent floods in Punjab. The flooding has claimed 55 lives and left thousands without homes. Heavy rains caused the Sutlej, Ravi, and Beas rivers to swell, overflowing their banks and inundating nearby villages and agricultural land.
