NT catches up with her, as she visits the city for the auditions of a television reality show.
So has Sonali finally decided to do away with her de-glamourised image? "I looked sensuous even in those de-glamourised roles. I went for this transformation because I like to experiment and spring surprises. It keeps me going. But now I look even more stunning and I am sure my fans will love my fresh look. Till now they knew me as a theatre person, actor and a writer, but now they will see me in a glamorous new avatar," she says.
The radiant look and the excitement in her voice makes us suspect that there's more to this makeover than meets the eye. Is there romance in the air? We ask Sonali and she promptly replies, "I am always in love. I am a very passionate and romantic person at heart. These days, I am surrounded by men and I enjoy being with all of them. There are hundreds of men out there, waiting to marry me."
But the actress promptly adds that she is in no hurry to get married as her career has just taken off. She says that the man she marries will be 'damn lucky' because she is basically a home bird and will make a wonderful partner.
Her professional life is also perking up, she says and adds that she is being noticed by the big banners and receiving some interesting offers.
The mere mention of her last Marathi release Restaurant, in which she plays a chef, gets her going. Her movies that were shelved for various reasons, and gave her a feeling of 'being jinxed', will be releasing shortly. She gushes, "I am basking in the success of Restaurant now, but there is more to come. Movies like Via Darjeeling, BBD and Kaaran, which were shelved for different reasons, are now all slated for release. I think the jinx is over now and my career will only move upwards from here."
Talking about her Nagpur connect, she says, "I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the young talented lot of the city. I look forward to coming here because I have some good friends like playwright Mahesh Elkunchwar in the city. Theatre scenario here, is quite promising."
