Acclaimed filmmaker
Shekhar Kapur, who is making a film titled Paani that is to have Hrithik Roshan in it, is launching a global cause that will see him rope in several international stars to champion the cause of water conservation.
Shekhar has spoken to several Hollywood heavyweights like Cate Blanchett, hot bod
Penelope Cruz,
Shia LaBeouf and
Julie Christie in a bid to rope them for his cause. Some of them have confirmed to Shekhar that they in their own little way will take the message to conserve water forward.
A source close to Shekhar and the project reveals, “While researching for Paani, Shekhar has been deeply disturbed by the state of affairs that will be in the near future if we do not save water from today. It has been said that when the taps dry out, people who will have control over water will rule the world and those who don’t will try several means, including resorting to violence, to get it. We hear Shekhar’s film too is futuristic about the events and water wars that will follow as a result of lack of water.”
The insider adds, “Penelope is very keen to work with Shekhar on a film and they both share a good equation. Cate and Shekhar are close friends especially after they worked together in Elizabeth. Others like Shia and Julie have also worked with Shekhar (New York I Love You) and they are extremely fond of him.
So, talking to them on a personal level about his cause is not too difficult for Shekhar. All these actors also have a huge philanthropic side to them and they won’t hesitate to take the word forward.” Shekhar, however, is not open to comment and is reportedly saving his words for a big announcement coming soon.
