On his recent visit to Jaipur, actor
Shatrughan Sinha proved that he doesn't need to be on screen or on stage to entertain his audience ' even a simple chat show gets the best out of him. So during a conversation with his biographer and author Bharathi S Pradhan during the Write Circle chat show held at ITC Rajputana in the city, he had the audience entertained by giving an interesting account of his life, unfolding the struggles and his journey from being a Bihari Babu to a star and a politician.
'From someone who came all the way from Patna, who didn't look anything like a conventional hero, who had scars on his face and was dark-skinned and who started his career playing negative characters, I became an onscreen hero. I always believed in choosing the path less travelled. I have always told my children to prove they're better than the best. And if not that, at least prove you're different from the rest.'
It's 'childish' of Bollywood to speak on intolerance: Shatrughan Sinha While talking to the audience, there were several moments when Sinha, with his wit and spontaneous dialogue delivery, made everyone burst into fits of laughter. He narrated funny stories about how, when he had changed his name to Shatrughan, his name was spelt incorrectly and was also mocked at. Talking about a cut mark on his face, the actor said, 'Once somebody told my daughter Sonakshi when she was a child that the actress
Rekha had bitten me and that's how I got the cut on my face. It was very difficult to make her understand.'
Talking about the origin of his signature dialogue 'khamosh', he said, 'Even I don't remember when I first used the word khamosh in a film. Later it became my trademark style.' Present at the session were film distributor Raj Bansal, Saurabh Kakkar and Goutam Sen, among others. Culturist Sundeep Bhutoria told us, 'For the first time in Write Circle, we have a guest who has such a powerful personality. His story goes from being ordinary to extraordinary.'
