‘Shaolin kids are warriors!’

... says Bollywood martial arts superstar Akshay Kumar who trained with junior kung-fu experts in Mumbai.
‘Shaolin kids are warriors!’
Goodbye Jackie Chan, so long Jet Li, hello Akshay Kumar!
Bollywood need not look to China for a martial arts superstar. Not when it has the Action King himself ever ready to demonstrate his skills in the fighting arts and sports. That Akshay studied the martial arts during his Bangkok days is known. But that, despite the dexterity and flair with which his fists and feet flash on screen, Akshay is still a student of the Oriental arts is not known.

He has no hesitation in saying so himself. The actor, who is ready with his kickass film Chandni Chowk to China, was thrilled to be part of a childrens TV channel programme that invited some junior Shaolin Temple kung-fu experts to Mumbai for a shoot. Akshay met up with them for an interactive session.
Im still struggling to be good, admitted the actor with monk-like sincerity. Thats why I have to keep working hard and studying more new styles of fighting. And the more I study, the more I learn about concentration and peace, to me the martial arts is a form of meditation. He learned a lot from the Shaolin kids. No matter how small you are, you can have the power of a warrior. They have incredible speed and absolutely no fear. I want to entertain and inspire our children. I found those Chinese kids were incredible and Im hoping the show gets our nation invloved in more sports, he revealed.
Did he take along his son, five-year-old Araav, to meet the kung-fu kids? Of course, I wanted my son to see how good he could be if he trains hard, too. Its difficult for kids to think they can be as good as adults, but when they see kids their own age doing amazing stuff, it makes them want to be just like them. Araav, he said, practices karate thrice a week. He loves it, he is just dying to perform kicks like me! When we train at home, he sometimes get frustrated, but he is learning fast, some of his moves are better than mine, said the proud father. Martial arts is in Araavs blood. Yesterday I was learing karate with my dad, now Im teaching my own son.
