Shah Rukh Khan is one superstar who has stood the test of time in an unpredictable film industry through many decades, criticisms and personal rivalries. Delivering hit after hit became a habit for him and he definitely became one of India’s and the world’s most loved and versatile superstars.

Baazigar

The Badshah of Bollywood has worked in over 80 Hindi films and he wasn’t always remembered for his cute, boy-next-door romantic roles. Amongst his earlier hits was the 1993 Baazigar in which he played an anti-hero who sets out to cold-bloodedly murder the man he holds responsible for his father’s death. He is paired with Kajol in this film and Shilpa Shetty is his victim.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is the cult Yash Raj film from 1995 that had Shah Rukh Khan play the romantic lead opposite Kajol. It remains YRF’s most famous love story and the production house is all set to release it once again in theatres as a birthday present for Shah Rukh’s 57th birthday on November 2, 2022. It's also the longest running movie playing in Maratha Mandir since 1995.

Dil To Pagal Hai

Shah Rukh Khan plays Rahul in this 25-year-old film. Dil to Pagal Hai starred Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles. SRK’s character Rahul doesn’t believe in fairytale romances, but this film is best remembered for its breezy, modern dances that won Shiamak Davar the National Film Award for Best Choreography. Hats off to director Yash Chopra who gave audiences this iconic film.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

After a string of hits, SRK got even more luck with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, the iconic film written and directed by Karan Johar and produced by Yash Johar. The film grossed ten times its original budget and made the three stars – Shah Rukh, Kajol and Rani Mukerji into undisputed superstars.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

There is no dearth of superstars in the 2001 Karan and Yash Johar film, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. SRK teams up with Amitabh Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan, besides Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor in this story of an Indian family that has added twists in the plot. Upper caste vs lower caste, rich vs middle class values and culture difference, its all there.

Devdas

This is Sanjay Leela Bhansali classic features one of SRK’s iconic roles as the hopeless and jilted, romantic lover. The classic story of the lover who is not permitted to be with the woman of his affection is explored in detail in this Sarat Chandra classic. SRK played one of his career's best roles as the alcoholic Devdas.

Swades

Swades is a 2004 film that stars SRK in the role of an Indian American by the name of Mohan Bhargav. He plays the role of a scientist from NASA, who after returning to India, rekindles his love for his home nation. The film did not perform well at the box office, but was validated by critics and award shows alike.

Chak De! India

Chak De! India is a 2007 sports drama in which SRK plays the role of a hockey coach for the Indian women’s hockey team. He soon realizes that the hockey team is in tatters with internal disagreements and rivalries and vows to make them work together to build a successful team.

My Name is Khan

My Name is Khan is a 2010 film directed by Karan Johar and certainly one of his and SRK's most off-beat story-telling choices. In this film, SRK departs from his usual romantic narratives and decides to experiment with the social genre, tackling the subject of Islamophobia with subtlety and sublime emotion.

Don

Don is a 2006 film, which stars Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in key roles. Directed by Farhan Akhtar, Don is a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan classic. The new Don, went on to become a major commercial success, grossing over 106 crores at the box-office against a budget of 40 crores. It was praised for its action sequences, soundtrack, production design and cinematography as well.
