Salim Khan admitted to ICU: Veteran screenwriter stable and under close observation, reveals doctor
Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, known for co-writing iconic Hindi films, is currently stable and under close observation after being admitted to the ICU at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra on Tuesday.
Dr. Jalil Parker, the doctor treating 90-year-old Salim Khan, shared a statement with PTI confirming his early morning ICU admission at 8:30 a.m. "He is stable but is under close observation regarding his clinical status," Parker said in the statement.
The doctor further said, "He (Khan) was brought into the emergency by their family doctor Dr Sandeep Chopra. Emergency care was initiated in the emergency and Mr Salim Khan was shifted to the intensive care on the 1st floor. A team of doctors consisting of Dr Vinay Chavan (neurologist), Dr Ajit Menon(cardiologist) & Dr Nitin Dange (neurosurgeon) and Dr Bineet Ahluwalia attended on him."
Parker added that doctors will issue a press bulletin on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with "due consent of the relatives & maintaining the confidentiality of the patient to the utmost".
With growing concern for Salim Khan’s health, his children, including superstar Salman Khan, daughter Alvira, and sons-in-law Atul Agnihotri and Aayush Sharma, were spotted arriving at the hospital.
Salim Khan, a prominent figure from the 70s and 80s, celebrated his 90th birthday on November 24 last year, a day that also marked the passing of Dharmendra, star of his iconic films like ‘Sholay’, ‘Seeta aur Geeta’, and ‘Yaadon Ki Baraat’. Born into a wealthy Indore family, he arrived in Mumbai in his 20s, full of confidence and good looks, aiming for stardom as an actor.
After assisting Abrar Alvi, Salim partnered with Javed Akhtar to form Hindi cinema’s most legendary writing duo. The duo scripted nearly two dozen films, with the majority turning into box-office superhits.
